Did you know not every sinus problem starts with an infection? 🤧🌿

Seasonal allergies can cause swelling inside the nose, which may block normal sinus drainage and lead to:

• Sinus pressure
• Headaches
• Congestion
• Recurring sinus symptoms

If allergy season seems to bring on what feels like a “sinus infection” again and again, allergies could be part of the problem.

At WNY ENT, we can help identify what’s behind your symptoms and find the right approach to help you breathe and feel better.

🎧Turn It Down. Give Your Ears a Break.

Whether you’re working out, traveling, relaxing poolside, or just tuning out the world for a while, headphones and earbuds are part of everyday life.

Keep the 60/60 Rule in mind:

🔊 Keep your volume at 60% or less
⏱️ Listen for no more than 60 minutes at a time
🎧 Give your ears a break before putting your headphones back on

Repeated exposure to loud sound can contribute to permanent hearing damage over time. Protecting your hearing doesn’t mean giving up your favorite playlist—it means listening smarter.

Preserving your hearing for years to come starts by protecting it today.

Your Ear, Nose and Throat Symptoms May Be More Connected Than You Think

A constantly stuffy nose can lead to mouth breathing. Mouth breathing can contribute to a dry or irritated throat. Poor nighttime breathing may also disrupt sleep and leave you feeling tired during the day.

That means symptoms such as congestion, snoring, dry mouth, sore throat, headaches, and fatigue may not be separate problems—they may be part of the same story.

At WNY ENT, our specialists look beyond the individual symptom to help identify what may be causing the pattern. Call today or schedule online!

🤫 Silent Reflux: When Heartburn Isn’t Even a Symptom
Reflux doesn’t always feel like heartburn. Laryngopharyngeal reflux, or LPR, can irritate the throat and voice box without causing the classic burning sensation.

Possible signs include:

• Frequent throat clearing
• A chronic cough
• Hoarseness or voice changes
• Excess mucus
• A sore throat
• Feeling like something is stuck in your throat
• Difficulty swallowing

Because these symptoms can have several possible causes, a proper evaluation matters. If throat or voice symptoms aren’t going away, the specialists at WNY Ear, Nose & Throat can help identify the cause and discuss appropriate treatment.

Smoke from Canadian wildfires can affect air quality across Western New York. Reduce your exposure with these simple precautions:

✅ Keep windows closed at home and in your car, and use air conditioning when possible.
✅ Set your AC to recirculate so it does not pull smoky outdoor air inside.
✅ Check your air filter and replace it if needed. Consider replacing it again once air quality improves.
✅ Limit time outdoors. People with asthma, COPD, other breathing conditions, and those who are pregnant should consider wearing a well-fitting N95 or KN95 mask when outside.

Pay attention to local air-quality alerts and move indoors if you experience coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, or difficulty breathing.

Stay safe and breathe easier, Western New York! 💙
