Chiropractic and massage therapy

Both long-term muscle tension and sudden impacts, such as a fall or car accident, can impact your joints. The joints may be pulled and held out of normal alignment, which can disrupt nerve transmissions, especially in the spine where nerves affect the entire body. Misalignments and other joint problems can result in decreased mobility, pain or other symptoms such as numbness or tingling, both at the problem site and elsewhere in the body.

Joint problems are almost always accompanied by tension or injury in your soft tissue: muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (the elastic web of connective tissues that ties your body together). Tight, inflamed muscles and fascia suffer poor circulation and can develop glue-like adhesion which prevent muscles from lengthening completely. Painful trigger points can also develop, often referring pain or tingling to other areas in the body.

Both massage and chiropractic offer preventative care to support your ongoing good health. They help relieve pain and improve mobility, you may sleep better and feel more energetic. You may find it easier to stretch and exercise. This may help you maintain and even improve the flexibility, strength and balance needed to prevent misalignment, tension and injury. Both chiropractic and massage therapy work to resolve the cause of your pain rather than treat isolated symptoms. Used in combination, massage and chiropractic can help you maintain optimum health and enjoy life to the fullest!

Your posture reveals the integrity of your nervous system

We are constantly adapting to gravity. Those in outer space, who temporarily escape its influence, start wasting away. Their bones become frail and their muscles weaken. Their strength and vitality decline. Here on Earth, we use large amounts on energy adapting to gravity. Just standing erect requires the coordination (by your nervous system) of 200 muscles!

It all starts with the energy that flows over your nerves. Muscles only contract, moving bones, when commanded by your nervous system. Postural distortions are signs your nervous system in compromised.

Your eyes monitor the horizon, giving feedback to your brain (nervous system) to keep you upright. Fluid in your inner ear constantly supplies information about your balance and position. Pressure sensors on each foot send data up the spine so you can stand without falling.

Bones are the structural components of your body. They can’t move, dislocate or become malpositioned without muscles pulling on them. Sometimes muscles will stay contacted when they shouldn’t. This is called a muscle spasm. Postural problems usually follow.

Arthritis (spinal decay) can result from an abnormal, long-standing adaptation to gravity. The body deposits calcium on malfunctioning joint surfaces in an attempt to shore up or “splint” the joints. Bone spurs, and eventually fusion, can result.

Chiropractic care helps people enjoy the relief they seek. They also benefit from better balance, graceful movement and increased vitality. Since many postural distortions begin in childhood, it’s vitally important to have your children checked!

Chiropractic Care and Headaches

Headaches may be common, but they’re not normal. There are many types and causes of headaches. Regardless of the cause if you have a headache, you want it to end fast!

This has produced a huge market for medications that cover up the symptoms of headaches. Powerful drugs can numb your nervous system the pain does not register. While these approaches may be convenient, they can cause adverse effects and kidney or liver damage. Worse, they do not correct the underlying cause of the headache.

A cause of headaches can be from spinal bones in the neck that aren’t supporting your head properly. They’re not moving right, this can affect nerves, muscles and even the blood supply to your head. The common causes of headaches are physical trauma, emotional stress, nutritional deficiencies or chemical toxins. Sometimes there may a combination of these or other factors.

Chiropractic adjustments help normalize spinal function, help restore essential spinal curves, improve circulation and reduce nerve irritation. Many patients report fewer and less severe headaches. Some patients enjoy results quickly. Others notice a slow decline in their symptoms after several weeks or longer of chiropractic care. It’s impossible to predict. If you’ve had chronic headaches for many years, improvement can take time!
