If the dentist makes you anxious, bring a weighted blanket. It helps more than you would think.

Steady pressure settles the nervous system, which is why some patients bring one from home for longer appointments. The same trick is already in the room with you. That heavy lead apron we drape over you for x-rays does a similar job, and plenty of people find it oddly calming.

Bring your headphones and your own playlist. Bring someone whose company makes you feel safer. Tell us what makes you feel anxious so we can work around it, and what makes it better so we can do more of it.

None of it is silly to us. Whatever gets you through the door and into the chair is worth doing.

Tell us what would make your visit easier when you book, and we'll build it in. Call us at (503) 656-8250 or visit ocfamilydentistry.net

Here's a question worth asking any dentist before an implant: "Is this something you should be doing, or should a specialist?" You deserve an honest answer. Here's ours.

We place a lot of dental implants right here in our office, and we're comfortable doing so anywhere in the mouth, as long as the conditions are right. That means enough healthy bone to support the implant and no added complications.

But some cases are more involved. Sometimes there isn't enough bone structure and extra groundwork would be needed first. Sometimes, in the upper jaw, the sinus sits too low and there isn't enough room, which calls for a procedure to make space. When a case reaches that level of complexity, we'd rather hand it to an oral surgeon who does these procedures day in and day out.

That's not us stepping back from your care. It's us putting your outcome first. An experienced surgeon in those specific situations means more predictable results, and that's what matters.

So here's our promise: anything we're confident doing, we'll do here, and when a specialist is the safer choice, we'll tell you. If you're considering an implant, let's talk about what's right for you at Oregon City Family Dentistry in Oregon City, OR.

When you need a lot of dental work, the treatment plan you're handed should be one that fits your life.

Dr. Rima is a big believer that if you do the right thing, the right things come back to you. The only target she sets is being a little better than the day before and making sure our patients leave well cared for.

So we look at what's in front of us and work out what suits you. Sometimes that means doing everything at once. Sometimes it's the urgent piece now and a map for the rest. Sometimes it's keeping an eye on a tooth until it needs attention.

You decide what happens and when. We give you the honest picture and respect the call you make.

If you've been putting off a bigger conversation about your teeth, let's start with an honest look. Schedule at ocfamilydentistry.net.

Somewhere along the way, a lot of people decided straightening your teeth is a young person's thing. We'd love to gently retire that idea.

Lately we've had a wonderful influx of patients in their 70s exploring Invisalign, and it's been one of the most rewarding parts of our week.

Some come in already knowing they want it. They've thought about it for years, and now feels like the right time to do something for themselves.

Others come in for something else entirely, and we get to talking. When we look at the whole picture, straighter teeth aren't only about appearance. They're easier to clean, easier to care for, and that makes a real difference in keeping your natural teeth healthy for the long run.

That's the part worth knowing at any age: this isn't vanity. For many people later in life, it's one of the smartest things they can do to protect the teeth they have.

If you've ever wondered whether it's too late for you, the answer is almost certainly no. Come talk it through with us at Oregon City Family Dentistry in Oregon City, OR.

Most people think Invisalign is a cosmetic choice. About 40% of our Invisalign patients come in with a different reason.

They're chipping and breaking teeth. Getting food stuck in places their floss can't reach. Their bite is wearing down teeth in ways they can feel but can't see.

Invisalign does more than change how your teeth look. When teeth sit in better positions, you can clean them easily. A healthier bite means less chipping and fewer cracked teeth down the road.

Your smile will look great at the end of it, and you'll also be protecting the teeth you have.

If you've been chipping teeth or feeling like something's off with your bite, that's worth a conversation. Call 503-656-8250 or book at ocfamilydentistry.net

You sit down, and the dentist hands you a treatment plan that feels a mile long. It's a lot to take in, and it can be overwhelming enough that some people freeze and do nothing at all.

We understand that completely. So we do it differently.

When there's a lot of care to be done, we don't expect you to tackle it all at once. We break it into smaller pieces and figure it out together. What's the first step? How do we manage that one part? We start there, and we start at a pace that works for you.

Then, once that first piece is behind you, we look at what's next. What you can afford right now. What you actually want to prioritize. What can wait. We map it out together, one honest step at a time, always around what's best for you.

Because a big plan isn't a demand you have to meet today. It's a path we walk with you. If a treatment plan has felt like too much to face, let's break it down together. Call us at Oregon City Family Dentistry in Oregon City, OR.

Before we do veneers, we sometimes need to talk about Invisalign.

If your teeth are overlapping or out of position, veneers can sometimes go right over them. But often, we need to move those teeth into proper position first, then handle the cosmetic work.

Why? Veneers hold up longer when the bite underneath is actually aligned.

Most chipping and breaking happens because the bite was never ideal to start, teeth just aren't meeting correctly. Placing veneers over that problem instead of fixing it usually means round two of chipping or breaking later.

Depending on your case, that might mean straightening first and then deciding if cosmetic work is even necessary. Or it might mean repositioning everything and placing veneers only where they show when you smile.

We're not just chasing a look, we're building something that lasts.

It can feel like an extra step when you're ready for a new smile now. But getting the order right means your veneers look better and last far longer.

Few words make a patient tense up like "root canal." So here's something that might help you breathe easier.

Dr. Rima loves them.

Not tolerates. Not "doesn't mind." Loves. She almost specialized in root canals back in school, because the work came naturally to her in a way that surprised people. While classmates needed three separate three-hour appointments to finish one, she could complete it in about an hour.

What she'll tell you is that every tooth is its own little puzzle. The root canal system inside each one is different, and figuring out that puzzle, and doing it well, is the part she enjoys.

Think about what that means for you. The procedure you're dreading most is the one your dentist finds kind of fun. That's exactly who you want in the room: someone with a steady, skilled hand who actually likes this work.

So if a root canal is on your horizon, take a breath. You're in good hands. Come see us at Oregon City Family Dentistry in Oregon City.

A lot of our patients wait years before calling us, and almost all of them say the same thing when they finally walk through the door, "I thought it would be worse."

Dental anxiety is real, and it is one of the most common reasons people delay care. At Oregon City Family Dentisty, we built our practice around the idea that trust comes before treatment. That means no rushing, no shame, and no lecture about how long it has been.

Our team takes time to explain each step before we start, so nothing catches you off guard. For patients who need it, sedation options make the visit easier from start to finish.

If your last dental memory was not a good one, we would like the chance to change that. You do not need a good reason to come in. You just need to be ready.

Some patients walk in already wishing they were anywhere else. Anxious. Nervous. Bracing themselves before anything's even happened.

One of ours felt exactly that way recently, and shared what changed it.

When Dr. Rima walked into the room, the very first thing she did wasn't to talk about teeth. It was to give the patient a hug.

In their words, Dr. Rima is "really motherly," and it made all the difference. That small, human moment, being met with warmth instead of a clipboard, was enough to take the edge off the fear.

That's the kind of care we hope every nervous patient feels the second they sit down. If anxiety has been keeping you away, know that you'll be met with kindness first. Come see us at Oregon City Family Dentistry in Oregon City.
