It’s HPV Vaccine Week.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is very common and easily spread. Nearly all people will be infected with HPV at some point in their life.

There are many types of HPV that can infect different areas of the body. Some types cause warts in the ge***al area and other types can lead to cancer on the cervix, v***a, a**s, p***s, mouth and throat.

Most HPV-related cancers can be prevented with the HPV vaccine starting between the ages of 9 and 12.

Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is reminding people with Oregon Health Plan (OHP ) coverage to make sure their contact information is up to date.

This is important because new federal rules require every state to change how they manage their health coverage programs and OHP members may need to receive additional information to keep their coverage.

Members should respond to renewal letters and keep their contact information and preferred language up to date by going to Benefits.Oregon.gov, calling 1-800-699-9075, or visiting a local ODHS office.

What the new federal rules mean for Oregon:

* Starting in January 2027, some adult OHP members, including some adults covered by Healthier Oregon, will need to meet work or other activity rules starting in January 2027. There will be exemptions, but the federal government only recently provided details on the rules. OHA is reviewing the new information and will share more about exemptions later this summer.

* Starting in late 2027, most people will need to renew their OHP coverage more often. Some adults will need to renew every 6 months, while others will renew annually.

People can still apply for OHP any time by going to Benefits.Oregon.gov, calling 800-699-9075, or visiting a local ODHS office. People can find free help at OregonHealthCare.gov/GetHelp.

Three years ago this week, Clackamas Free Clinic welcomed our first patients at our new space on campus at Clackamas Community College.

Since then, thousands of appointments have taken place within these walls. Patients have received medical, vision, and preventive care. Students have gained hands-on experience. Volunteers have shared their expertise, and our community has come together to make healthcare more accessible.

Thank you to every volunteer, donor, partner, and patient who has been part of the journey. Here’s to the years ahead! 💙

Hace tres años, por estas fechas, Clackamas Free Clinic recibió a sus primeros pacientes en nuestra sede de Clackamas Community College.

Desde entonces, se han llevado a cabo miles de consultas entre estas paredes. Heat-related illness can happen inside or outside in as little as 10 to 15 minutes.

It’s important to know the difference between heat exhaustion, which is treatable by finding a cooler location and drinking water, and heat stroke, which requires a call to 911 for emergency medical attention.

We’re so glad to officially introduce new staff member, Kayte, RN 💛
Kayte brings experience in allergy care, mental health, and family birth to her role on staff at Clackamas Free Clinic, along with a deep belief in service and compassion. Having received support during a pivotal time in her own life, she’s motivated by a desire to give back and uplift others. In her role, Kayte works closely with our care teams to provide coordinated, patient-centered primary care; supporting everything from rooming and vaccinations to patient education and follow-up care. She also plays a key role in training and supporting our nurse and lab tech volunteers. We’re so grateful to have her with us creating a welcoming, collaborative environment for patients and volunteers alike.
