Always rushing to the bathroom after menopause?

Many women assume bladder urgency and frequent trips to the bathroom are simply part of getting older—but that's not always true.

One surprising fact: the type of hormone therapy matters.

✔️ Vaginal estrogen has been shown to improve urgency, frequency, and urge leakage in many postmenopausal women.

⚠️ Oral estrogen, on the other hand, may actually make urinary incontinence worse for some women.

I also review the latest research on:

Vaginal DHEA (prasterone)
Testosterone therapy
Current treatment recommendations
Safety considerations

If you've ever wondered whether hormone therapy could help your bladder symptoms, this article breaks down what the evidence actually says.

Have you heard that testosterone might help bladder leakage after menopause?

It’s an idea getting more attention—but what does the research actually say?

Women with lower testosterone levels are more likely to have stress urinary incontinence, but there are currently no clinical trials proving that testosterone therapy treats it.

Interestingly, low-dose vaginal estrogen has stronger evidence for improving bladder symptoms in many postmenopausal women.

We break down the difference in this article.

Women with overactive bladder:

I have a question for you.

When a leak starts, does the urge go away after a small amount escapes, or does it usually continue until you reach a bathroom?

While researching leakproof underwear for a World Cup-themed article, I realized I wasn't sure what the typical experience is.

I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts.
