October is also Down Syndrome Awareness month. Just like every disability, the experience of having Down Syndrome can look and feel different for each individual. It is important that each individual, regardless of their diagnosis, has as much opportunity as possible to have a voice present in decisions that impact them.

This week UVU Accessibility Services would like to draw awareness to individuals with invisible disabilities. Just because a disabling condition may not be visible to everyone, doesn't mean its any less deserving of support and understanding. If you or someone you know has an invisible disability, encourage them to reach out to our office for educational accommodations.

October 10th is World Mental Health Day. Many people with mental health conditions may not know that they have access to accommodations to support them in having equal access despite any barriers they may face due to their mental health. This week is the International Week of Deaf People. Here at UVU Accessibility Services, we are so lucky to be able to partner with UVU Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services to provide ASL access to UVU students and to honor d/Deaf cultural heritage.
