Have you heard of baby-led weaning? Instead of starting solids with pureed baby food, baby-led weaning lets your little one join in at family mealtimes and self-feed soft, easy-to-grasp pieces of food right from the start. Most babies are ready around 6 months, when they can sit up with support and bring things to their mouths on their own. Fans of this approach say it helps babies develop motor skills, explore different textures, and learn to recognize when they're full. That said, always supervise eating closely and avoid choking hazards like grapes, nuts, and hard raw vegetables.
