🪒 A shaved head still needs skincare.

A lot of men spend time getting the perfect shave but forget that the scalp is skin too. When you shave regularly, you’re removing hair that normally helps protect your scalp, making it more prone to dryness, irritation, and sun damage.

Here are a few simple swaps that can make a big difference:

✔️ Use a moisturizing shave cream instead of shaving with harsh soap - Aveeno Positively Smooth Shave Cream.
✔️ Cleanse with a gentle, hydrating cleanser - Cerave Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser
✔️ Wash with lukewarm, not hot, water.
✔️ Moisturize morning and night based on your skin type - Vanicream Enhanced Moisturizer (normal to oily skin) or Avene Cicalfate Cream (dry skin).
✔️ And never skip sunscreen. A freshly shaved scalp is one of the easiest places to get a sunburn - La-Roche Posay Anthelios UV Pro Sport SPF 50.

Healthy skin isn’t just about your face; your scalp deserves the same attention.

Save this for your next shave and send it to someone who’s always rocking the bald look. 💪🏾

Not every growth around the eye is something to worry about but every new or changing growth deserves a closer look.

This patient had a large seborrheic keratosis, a very common, benign skin growth that had become bothersome because of its size and location on the lower eyelid.

After carefully numbing the area, I removed it using electrodessication, a quick in-office procedure that precisely treats the lesion while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin.

✨ A few reminders:
• Not every eyelid bump is a skin tag.
• Benign growths can still affect comfort, vision, or confidence.
• Never try to remove growths around your eyes at home; the eyelid is one of the most delicate areas on the body.

If you notice a new, changing, or bothersome growth, schedule an evaluation with a dermatologist. The first step is making the right diagnosis.

👁️ Healthy skin includes healthy eyelids.

Myth vs. Fact: Crochet Braids 👀

❌ Myth: Crochet braids are a protective style.

✅ Fact: In my practice, I don’t consider crochet braids protective.

Why? The cornrows underneath are often braided too tightly, and the added weight of the crochet hair places continuous tension on your follicles. That combination can lead to hair breakage, thinning edges, and even traction alopecia especially if you wear the style repeatedly or leave it in for weeks.

I know they’re convenient and can look beautiful, but healthy hair should always come before convenience.

If you’re experiencing tenderness, bumps, headaches after installation, or thinning around your hairline, your scalp is telling you something. Listen to it.

Not every style marketed as “protective” is actually protecting your hair.

Your follicles don’t care what’s trending - they care about tension.

Have you had damage from crochet braids? I’d love to hear your experience below. ⬇️

MEN’S EDITION: RAZOR BUMPS
USE THIS, NOT THAT

If you’re dealing with ingrown hairs (pseudofolliculitis barbae), making a few simple changes to your shaving routine can make a huge difference.

✅ Use a single-blade razor instead of a 3-, 4-, or 5-blade razor. Fewer blades = less irritation and fewer hairs trapped beneath the skin. Top pick - Medline Double Sided Razor

✅ Skip alcohol-based aftershaves. They may sting, but they also dry out and irritate the skin. Instead, use a hypochlorous acid spray or cleanser to calm inflammation and support healing. Top pick - Briotech Hypochlorous Acid Spray

✅ Trade heavy cocoa butter for Eucerin Radiant Tone Nighttime Moisturizer to hydrate your skin while helping improve the appearance of post-inflammatory dark marks.

✅ And don’t skip sunscreen. UV exposure can make those dark spots linger much longer. One of my favorites is the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UV Tone Niacinamide SPF 50 - it’s lightweight, made for the face, and helps protect while addressing discoloration.

Small changes. Big results.

Your skin deserves better than razor bumps.

Skin tags may be small, but they can be surprisingly annoying - especially when they’re on the eyelids. 👁️

This patient had a bothersome skin tag on the upper eyelid that we removed during a quick in-office procedure. While skin tags are usually benign, it’s important to have any new or changing growth evaluated before assuming it’s “just a skin tag.”

Have you ever had a skin tag removed? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Resume vs. Reality

POV: You exaggerated your qualifications…

When you hear “draw it up” and immediately grab a pen instead of a syringe. ✍🏽😂

The interview didn’t specify, okay?! 🖌️😅

Good thing this is just a Friday Funny! Around here, injectables are always prepared and administered by trained medical professionals.

Tag that coworker who would never let you live this down. 🤣
