Today, we pause to recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring strength of the Black community.

Observed on June 19, Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It is a day of reflection, remembrance, and celebration of the progress made while acknowledging the work that remains.

As we honor this important day, we remember those who carried this history forward through generations and celebrate the contributions, culture, and legacy that continue to enrich our communities.
