This funding opportunity will award up to $400,000 in total funding, with grants of up to $100,000 per project, to support innovating community-based initiatives addressing Access to Care, Maternal Child Health and Unintentional Injuries in Orange and Osceola counties. At UCF Lake Nona Hospital, part of HCA Florida Healthcare, we are honored to share that the HCA Healthcare Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to help CareerSource Central Florida strengthen and expand the area's healthcare workforce. The grant will support CareerSource Central Florida’s successful High School Career Express program, which provides students in grades 11 and 12 with in-person learning experiences that connect classroom education and real-world work environments. We are proud to partner with CareerSource Central Florida to help young people learn about the many exciting and rewarding careers in healthcare and inspire them to continue working toward their dream jobs.

This October, UCF Lake Nona Hospital is joining HCA Healthcare facilities across the country for the eighth annual "Crush the Crisis" national prescription drug take back day, held in alignment with the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

You can help UCF Lake Nona Hospital and the Orlando Police Department by removing medications and prescription drugs you no longer need from your home and bringing them to our upcoming collection event, where you can drop them off safely and anonymously.

This week we honored Daisy Award winner Jemima Belidor, BSN, RN, Family Birthing Unit!

A new mom at UCF Lake Nona Hospital recently recognized Jemima for her "Care Like Family" compassion. She wrote:

“Jemima was an exemplary nurse while I was in labor. This is my first pregnancy so I naturally had concerns and doubts. Jemima showed compassion throughout her entire shift. She took the time to thoroughly explain what she was doing, the reason why and provided my family and me reassurance several times, all while having a smile on her face! She took extra precautions in making sure I was comfortable and my baby was safe.

Jemima also remained attentive, transparent and honest, even with details that may have been difficult to hear and face. My family and I are extremely thankful for the kindness and professionalism that Jemima displayed. Thank you Jemima!”
