🚛 Driver Spotlight: Meet Mikel

He's one of the 100 Akumin truck drivers who deliver our mobile imaging and cancer care units from town to town!

Mikel moves units through the mountains of West Virginia. What he likes most? Knowing what he does makes a difference for the people who are too far away from hospitals but need the care.

I usually go to imaging centers for my MRIs that are hospital owned/connected, but I was placed here by my insurance provider. I sat alone in the waiting area for about 20 minutes until someone finally appeared at the front desk and she said she had no idea I was there (even though I had scheduled an appointment). The lady who actually took me back and did my scans (don't remember her name but she had pink/purple hair) was SO SWEET and professional and understanding. I don't like getting MRIs and in addition had just received some sad news while in my car before walking in, so I had some tears throughout the duration of my scans. She was supportive and caring and I appreciated that SO MUCH. I received my scans within minutes after returning to the waiting room.
