Not every dental problem starts with a cavity.

Sometimes the damage comes from years of grinding and clenching-something many patients don’t even realize they’re doing.

This patient presented with discomfort when chewing and intermittent sensitivity. The cause? A vertical fracture in the tooth, often associated with chronic bruxism (grinding).

When excessive forces are placed on teeth over time, tiny stress lines can develop. Eventually, these can progress into full vertical fractures.

Signs you might be grinding your teeth:
• Jaw soreness or tightness
• Tooth sensitivity when biting
• Small cracks or fractures in teeth
• Worn or flattened chewing surfaces
• Headaches, especially in the morning

In many cases, nightguards and bite management can help protect teeth from further damage.

Your teeth are strong—but they aren’t designed to handle years of excessive force.

If you notice symptoms like these, it’s worth having your bite evaluated.

Our teeth are some of the toughest tools we have. We use them to crush ice, break bones, open bottles, cut packages, and much more. And they withstand it all, until they don’t.
My patients tell the same story, “I’ve done this so many times and my teeth are always fine. I don’t know what happened this time.”
Here my patient cracked a veneer they had on their right canine opening a small condiments packet. We were able to get them in and in no time they were on their way with the tooth all better!!

Every smile tells a story about who you are. And sometimes you don’t want to change the narrative. It’s your story- tell it your way!

This patient was very clear about his priorities. He was concerned about decay and cavities in the front of his mouth and uncomfortable with the space from a missing tooth. What he did not want was a curated, cosmetic result that looked engineered or overly polished.
Our treatment focused on restoring health and function while preserving the natural character of his smile. No attempt was made to redesign who he is or make his teeth look like something they were never meant to be.

The goal was simple:
address disease, close the space thoughtfully, and allow the smile to remain authentic.

Good dentistry doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it quietly does exactly what the patient asked for.
