Here are 5 things we wish someone told every dad before that day:

You will feel helpless and that's completely normal.
Watching your partner in pain while not being able to take it away is one of the hardest things. That feeling doesn't mean you're failing. It means you love her. Stay present. Your presence alone is powerful.
Where you stand actually matters.
Be near her head, hold her hand, make eye contact. Don't hover nervously in the corner. Your physical closeness tells her she's not alone even when words fail.
Silence is sometimes the greatest gift.
You don't need to fill every moment with words. You don't need to fix anything. Sometimes just breathing with her, staying calm IS the support she needs most.
Your emotions are real but learn to hold them for a moment.
You might feel scared, overwhelmed, even tearful. That's okay. But in those critical hours, she needs your calm more than your panic. There is space to process everything after together.
The second you see your baby, nothing is ever the same.
No one can fully describe it. Every fear, every nervous feeling, it dissolves in an instant. You will know exactly why you were meant to be in that room.
