Bodhi is doing great. When the humane society confiscated him “due to cruelty”, he had parasites, a wound on his sc***um, he was covered in fleas, and so thin they were feeding him seven times a day to get his weight up.
Now, he’s putting on weight, parasite-free, vaccinated and all healed up from neutering and an upper respiratory infection. It was so hard keeping him isolated from the rest of our pets for two weeks until that cleared up.
We integrated him into the household a week ago today, and we’re thrilled with how it’s going.
While he’s been nothing but sweet, playful, and super eager to please, I wasn’t sure if we’d start to see behavioral issues as he started to get settled in.
But this sweetheart is an absolute angel.
He has shown zero signs of aggression (in fact our cat, Casanova, seems intent on reminding him daily who’s the boss).
He’s potty-trained (not one single incident), he’s not a chewer (in fact he doesn’t seem to know what toys are for), he’s not a barker. He trots right by my side when I walk him, and doesn’t react when he sees cats, other dogs, or our chickens.
He’s a little angel.
He cowers quickly if I move too fast, like he’s afraid he might get hit, so maybe some abuse there.
We’re not sure how old he is, but he’s very puppy-like, so definitely younger than two years old.
He is very affectionate, and absolutely adores his new older brother, Baloo. Luckily, it seems the feeling is very mutual. They play, wrestle, and run around the yard for hours each day.
We are already in love with this little guy, only three weeks in, and I know that bond will only get stronger. What a sweet addition he has been to our family. ❤️
