Big news ✨ We’re welcoming .irwin.md Dr. Tim Irwin to and as Medical Director of Pediatric Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery.
He’s the ONLY dual fellowship-trained pediatric hand surgeon in the entire state of Florida — meaning families no longer have to leave home to find this level of care.
With Dr. Irwin leading our pediatric microsurgery program, we can now care for children facing the most complex surgical oncology needs — including tumors requiring reconstruction at the highest level of precision and expertise.
This is what comprehensive pediatric surgical care looks like. We couldn’t be more proud to have him. Welcome, Dr. Irwin! 👏

🏆 First place.
Dr. Maria Polania took home the top research award at the Florida Chapter ACS Conference this weekend — representing our pediatric head and neck surgery team with excellence.
And ? He gave two amazing talks on new innovative techniques and approaches.
Couldn’t be prouder of this crew. 🙌

Pediatric head and neck cancer is rising — and most surgeons were never taught to recognize it.
This month, I’m sharing a 4-part series our team published in the Annals of Plastic Surgery, written for the surgeons who see these kids first but weren’t trained to manage them.
Part I: the tumors you need to know.

April is Pediatric Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month — and we just made history. 🧡

Our international team published the first-ever expert consensus guidelines on jaw (gnathic) osteosarcoma. This rare bone cancer has never had dedicated clinical guidelines — until now.
If your child has been diagnosed with a jaw tumor, specialized care makes a difference.
