β¨ Resident Poetry Corner β¨
Today, we are honored to share a beautiful poem written by one of our talented residents at La Grande Post Acute Rehab.
"Run" is a heartfelt reflection on youth, friendship, music, faith, and the joy of movement. Through vivid memories of running miles to see loved ones, celebrating with friends, and living life to its fullest, this poem reminds us of the power of cherished memories and the journeys that shape who we are.
We are continually inspired by the creativity, wisdom, and life experiences our residents share with us each day. Thank you for allowing us to celebrate your voice and your story.
β€οΈ Please join us in applauding our resident poet and the wonderful gift of self-expression.
Run
Running, running, running
in my days of glory, I could run
forever to meet my friends, my
sacred loved ones. No need for a
car- my body, my blessed being,
was my machine. I ran, I ran and
I ran- for the sheer joy of it. Not
to compete, not to prove
anything, but for the sheer joy of
it- my head, my eyes rotating
like a movie camera seeing
everything in the path of joy.
And when I found my friends
and loved ones, I rejoiced- and
sat down to my conga and
celebrated my victory of arrival.
Arrival to my promised friends
after 15 miles of exertion, my
body was tired less as I rounded
the corner to my friendβs house.
Guitars playing harmonicas,
wailing our sad, sweet songs, our
wild upbeat songs. And so for 20
long, short years I moved like
the wind and lived like a god.
Thank you, God, thank all of us
running, walking, working, and
awaking together. God bless us
all in our holy endeavors
forever, forever and forever
amen- hallelujah, glory be to
God and us working together
forever.
