๐ August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Awareness Month ๐
Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a genetic neuromuscular condition that affects muscle strength and movement. While it is often associated with infants and children, many individuals with SMA are living longer, fuller lives into adulthood and older age thanks to advances in care and treatment.
For seniors, raising awareness means supporting family members, caregivers, grandparents, and communities affected by SMA. It also reminds us of the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and compassionate care for people of all ages living with neuromuscular conditions.
This August, join us in:
๐ Learning more about SMA
๐ Supporting individuals and families affected by SMA
๐ Promoting understanding, inclusion, and accessibility
๐ Celebrating the strength and resilience of the SMA community
Together, we can help build a more supportive and inclusive world for everyone.
