Many people notice tightness in their ribs but are not sure how to describe it.
Some feel restricted when twisting. Others notice discomfort when reaching overhead, exercising, or taking a deep breath. Because the ribs are involved in so many everyday movements, tension in this area can make the body feel stiff and less mobile than it should.
When the muscles surrounding the ribs become tight, even simple movements can begin to feel limited. Addressing that tension can help restore more comfortable movement and allow the body to move more naturally again.
