Let’s talk whey protein + acne 👀
Some people sip whey and get gains 💪.
Others sip whey and get breakouts 😬. Why?
👉 Studies suggest whey can boost insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) and certain hormones, which may make your skin oilier and pores clog faster. That combo = more pimples.
👉 Research has found a link between whey use and increased acne in some people, especially after a couple months of supplements.
👉 BUT it’s not the same for everyone — genetics, your skin type, diet, and even the kind of whey you use all matter.
So if you notice your skin acting up after starting whey, don’t panic. Try cutting back, switch to plant-based protein , or talk to a dermatologist. Bottom line: whey isn’t “bad,” it’s just not for everybody.
