🌊 The Fascial System in Action — Why It Matters for Every Athlete
As a physical therapist, I see it every day: strength and mobility mean little if the body’s continuous connective tissue web (fascia) isn’t integrated and responsive.
This visual of a surfer perfectly shows how the major fascial lines work together:
• Superficial Back Line – power, absorption & control
• Spiral Line – rotational force for carving & transitions
• Front Line – core stability & landing absorption
• Lateral Line – side-to-side stability & weight transfer
• Deep Front Line – deep core control & hip/leg function
From paddle → takeoff → carve → pocket → aerial, fascia is constantly transferring force, storing elastic energy, and keeping the body connected.
When fascia is restricted, dehydrated, or poorly coordinated, performance drops and injury risk rises — whether you’re surfing, lifting, running, or just moving through daily life.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words…
This one makes me smile every time I see it. After having crippling right elbow pain from typing copious notes as a healthcare provider I immediately could relate and was vested to ensure she get back to serving her own patients…not to mention the pain was so bad she could not enjoy her ocean view coffee time with her husband.

Aloha everyone!

It is estimated that >980,000 knee arthroscopies and 630,000 primary TKAs are performed annually in the United States. Dry needling has shown to significantly reduce inflammation, joint pain, and actually slows the process of osteoarthritis. Much less invasive than injections and studies show better long term outcomes with dry needling than steroid injections.

Here is a medial meniscus protocol that I used to get this client active again so she could return to walking pain free on her cruise to Europe.
