Hey family & friends, last monday I had to call 911 because Charley wasn’t doing well. She has a super bug bladder infection which they’ve been trying to treat. She has been on multiple antibiotics but unfortunately the bacterias are becoming more resistant to antibiotics. These infections just keep coming back stronger, this one was so bad. she had blood in her urine. She is struggling with acute severe pain, persistent nausea, and bowel issues, along with abnormal vitals. Her pain is so debilitating leaving her completely immobile and unable to sit up.

She had another echocardiogram and was informed she still has fluid around her heart. She has been retaining fluid in her upper body, heart, and lungs. This is causing her to be short of breathe constantly and occasionally have chest pain. She has gained a significant amount of water weight which we’re trying to get rid of so she is being weighed everyday. Last week they placed a Ng tube in her nose and the tubing was huge and they went in her smaller nostril from breaking her nose. It was extremely painful for her and it was tremendously hard for me to watch. She got it taken out finally and an hour after was spitting up blood for a couple of hours.

She got a second referral to UCSF to see another urologist specialist which we are happy about. She will be doing her MALS surgery there as well. We’re trying to navigate best way to get her down to SF. She has autonomic disreflexia and pain triggers it and when she moves or is moved it causes severe pain which then can cause her to go apnec. Everyone keeps asking why she ends up back at Oroville Hospital and it’s because every time I try moving her whether it be by carrying her or carrying her on her bedding she is in so much pain she passes out and stops breathing and she stopped breathing in the ambulance for 4 minutes and had the EMT not been able to breathe for her she would have been brain dead and her condition is life threatening. So we end up calling 911, she ends up at Oroville, and they refuse to transfer her. We’ve looked into private transport and it’s really expensive. When she has an appointment in UCSF it’s going to be hard, risky, and scary to get her there with her current state. So it’s near impossible to get her there hence why she goes to Oroville. We’re hoping insurance can help us with a gurney transport. until 4-5 this am until it finally started to go down.

We did get a diagnosis that her genetic disease is causing all of her issues like her loss of bladder and loss of bowels along with the MALS disease and her neurological The MALS disease is very rare and causes its own set of problems.

It’s been very difficult trying to navigate everything the best we can. My poor girl just seems to keep getting worse. She’s facing new challenges and issues daily. She is fighting as hard as she can and is so strong. Even if she’s not feeling good, in pain, uncomfortable, she still is positive and always cracking jokes making the nurses laugh. A lot of her nurses have become really good friends to her, some are even like family now. Above all she has remained strong in her Faith and loves Jesus more than anything. Her relationship with him is what keeps her going. She has not once got mad at or blamed God, instead she says she trusts him completely. he has a purpose for her, and he has everything happens for a reason.

Please pray for her as she continues to face more obstacles and deal with new problems constantly. Thank you for every single prayer. Charley wants me to tell everyone thank you and she loves you!

Hi everyone quick update on Charley. She’s been home for a week and a half now. Her pain is out of control and she can’t get in to pain management till the end of September. She may still have a fungal infection but I’m trying to keep her out of the hospital for a while so she doesn’t get the anti fungal meds which will ruin her kidneys and liver. She is sleeping a lot and she’s not on her phone plus her vision has gotten alot worse as well so if you have reached out to her please don’t get upset when she doesn’t reply. Brewski and Winston are so happy she’s home. She loves you all and please continue to pray. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hey friends and family,

Here’s a little update on Charley. Today is day 19 of her being in the hospital. This stay has been a very hard one on her physically. She still has an infection we thought was gone, but came back with a vengeance. They’re managing her pain right now so we’re trying to figure out the best way to manage that at home. We’re hoping she gets to come home and we can finish treating her infection here. She got her Ng tube removed 2 days ago which she was happy to have it out. They’re still concerned with her heart rate and blood pressure. She struggles with tachycardia everyday and her blood pressure has been dropping significantly low. If she does well throughout the night hopefully my baby can come home finally! This hospital stay has taken a lot out of her and she’s exhausted and in constant pain. We’re praying once this infection is gone she won’t get anymore with the suprap***c catheter. She is still retaining fluid from her 24/7 tpn so the dr.s are trying their best to get rid of it. We did decide to cancel her surgery for her mals which was suppose to be next week for a couple of reasons. She will be getting the surgery still we’re just not sure when. Please pray for my baby! we’re so excited she hopefully gets to come home today.

Please please pray!❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Hey everyone,
As you all know Charley had a surgery to get a suprap***c catheter inserted last Thursday. Since she had the surgery she’s been in extreme pain. Not even 24 hours later Charley was crying in dyer pain. She felt something wet and looked down and there was blood. She called for her nurse (which is one she’s become really close to). She came running in and immediately started checking out her catheter. Well we then realized her nurse was holding the whole catheter in her hand. All of our jaws dropped. It was quite a scare. Her surgeon told her it needed to be left in for 6 weeks before being changed because of the pain, infection, and so the holes are healed and won’t close. Her nurse took off running and called the dr. And she had to have it replaced asap. With that being said she couldn’t get anything to help her pain. It was like undergoing the surgery again but wide awake. They had to feed the catheter through her freshly cut tissue through her hole in her abdomen to her hole in her bladder. I felt terrible she was in the worst pain I think Ive ever seen her in. We found out it fell out because the surgeon never blew up the balloon on the catheter to keep it in place. Everyone here has told Charley they’ve never seen that happen before. Everything complicated, rare, and unheard of seems to happen to her. I feel so awful for her. To top it off she woke up from surgery with tape around her catheter tubing bcuz they said there was a hole in it. Taping the tubing like that is a huge risk for infection. We were all stunned that they did that. She still has a couple infections they’re trying to get rid of. And there’s one they haven’t treated and we are trying to get by not having to treat it so she doesn’t have to go antibiotics. Bcuz she has a rare strain of bacteria the antibiotics for it are super toxic and bad for kidneys and liver. So we’re avoiding it at all costs and praying it doesn’t get worse. Some of her blood work has been coming out abnormal. Some are elevated and some are low. It’s been the same labs consistently being off for the last couple of weeks. We’re not worried about it as of now, hopefully they stay stagnant and don’t worsen.

Additionally, on top of everything happening she had to have a Ng (feeding) tube put in yesterday (8/2). She is still getting 24/7 tpn through her picc line. They placed the Ng tube to give her colonoscopy prep through it. The Ng being put through her nose hurt as well and is super uncomfortable. It hurts her to swallow and is making her feel like she has strep throat from the tube rubbing on her throat and esophagus. This was their last resort to cure her constipation but decided it was a necessity. Poor girl has so many tubes coming out of her body!
This week has been very hard on her and she has been slowly declining every week. She’s been in the hospital so much that she’s only spent 2-5 days home in the last month. Hopefully when her body is healed from the suprap***c catheter she will start feeling a little better and at least be able to be in her wheelchair, sit up, and move her body some. Please everyone pray for her and even spread the word. We need all the prayers we can get. She remains positive and cracking jokes throughout it all. All of her nurses love her and tell her she’s inspirational for being so happy and funny. Most of all she has completely leaned on God through all of this and says she completely trusts him and what he has planned for her. Her faith in him is what’s gotten her through all of this, it is amazing to witness. Thank you, we love you all and appreciate the prayers! ❤️‍🩹🙏🏻

Hold your babies and loved ones tight life can change so quickly 😢❤️😢

Quick update on Charley, she is still in the hospital and hasn’t improved at all. Her dr. Is working closely with another dr trying to figure out the best strategy to heal her. She possibly has 4 different infections. She is in agony and very nauseous per usual. But this is one of the worst pain she’s been in. One of the infections she has is very toxic and the med to cure it is even more toxic. So we’re weighing our options. She is very exhausted and drained but said she would love if anyone wants to come see her(as long as you’re not sick). When she is talking and socializing it helps keep her mind off of the pain. She may have a procedure to help prevent getting one of the infections she has right now but that depends if the infection clears. Her tpn(feeding through picc line) has caused her to gain 34 lbs of water weight since started it. Please continue to pay and thank you each and everyone of you.

Hi everyone here’s a quick update on Charley. Monday night she came home by transport and when we laid her in bed she was in so much distress a she couldn’t move she was stuck up against her railing and I I tried several times but she would freak out and tell me no I can’t. By Tuesday night I told her we’re going in except this time I wanted to take her to Rite Out in Marysville for a second opinion because Stafford was way too far away to transfer, so we got some friends over to help try and move her and she could not move because the pain so was so bad until she started passing out from the pain so I made the decision to call 911 and she was transported back to Oroville. We’re still waiting on test results for her bladder infection and a couple other infections that she may have. But this was by far the most pain I’ve ever seen her in before. Please please pray. Seeing your child moan and cry because the pain is so excruciating is the worst thing ever and I’m helpless. Luckily they have her on some good meds to help with the pain and she’s finally sleeping. She’s a trooper, she’s in the hospital more than she is home. And we really didn’t want her to be here but we had no choice. I’m exhausted so this may not be spelled right so I apologize but Please please 🙏🏼 ❤️‍🩹🙏🏼❤️‍🩹🙏🏼❤️‍🩹🙏🏼❤️‍🩹🙏🏼
