Within a span of 12 months, I have had the opportunity to visit eight national parks, the most recent being the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Alongside my mother, I made a stop at this park as it was relatively on our way back home to Minnesota. Located in southern Colorado, the Dunes were shaped by sand and sediment from a massive lake that once covered the valley. The winds sculpted the sand into the largest sand dunes in the US. It is worth noting that the park experienced 6 inches of snow the day before.
