Youth Health Advocate Program

Youth Health Advocate Program YHAP aims to bring awareness about HIV/AIDS and other STIs, end the stigma, & provide resources.

Youth Health Advocates are youth in the community who have taken the time to educate others on HIV/AIDS related information under the YHAP grant. (Youth Health Advocate Program) This includes STD/HIV testing, transmission, prevention, and care. Advocates work closely with an HIV Mobile Testing unit to ensure everyone in Oswego County has access to testing and provide outreach county wide.

Getting tested for HIV and knowing one's HIV status is a major step in improving long term health!

It is important to take care of one's s*xual health and encourage open conversations around testing and s*xual health. Connection to medication like PrEP is major in HIV prevention. Testing increases knowledge and ability to connect to earlier treatment, which can improve long term health outcomes significantly! ❤️
