Kevin C. Scott

Kevin Charles Scott, age 68 of Plainwell passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. He was surrounded by his wife, Vicky and 3 granddaughters they had raised together, Charity Carter-Kirby (Daniel), Becky Lynn Trent (Houston) and Ashley Carter in New Port Richie, Florida.

He was born April 26, 1958, the son of Raymond and Linda Scott. Kevin attended Plainwell High School before moving to New Port Richie, Florida to begin his life as an ironworker. Kevin met his wife Vicky there and together they raised her 3 granddaughters as their own. He was their Papa and he loved them deeply.

Kevin loved his dogs, enjoyed playing pool, joining various leagues throughout his life. He also liked spending time with his family and friends and sharing stories about his life. He was proud of his career and would reminisce about the time he fell off a steel building they were erecting and how he broke both of his wrists but kept going.

Kevin also enjoyed music and liked listening to Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and other classic country musicians. He loved to get the party going by loudly stomping his foot, clapping his hands, laughing and singing along to his favorite, Ring of Fire and doing the “Hooper Stomp”. Kevin liked watching old TV shows such as Andy Griffith, Gun Smoke and other cowboy classics. He would have the TV so loud it sounded like the shoot out was in the living room instead of on the TV. He was an avid NASCAR fan and liked following Dale Earnhardt.

He spent the last 10 years of his life being a snowbird between Plainwell and Florida. Even though he could be complicated at times, he was kind, generous and had a heart of gold. A good example is when he showed up last fall at Sisters of St. Joseph with a truck load of mums that he helped plant in a garden outside his mom’s room. How appropriate that the mums are starting to bloom. A reminder of how a small deed can change lives.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian “Vicky” Scott; stepchildren, Scott Carter (Tonya), Stacy Carter and Tina Winkles (Chris); 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; mother, Linda Hallett; stepmother, Rosie Scott; siblings, Jodi Giltrop, Lisa Miller and Todd Scott (Tracy) along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; stepfather, John Hallett and brother-in-law, Tom Miller.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 9, 2026, at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Otsego, with Rev. Fr. Simon Manjooran officiating.

Russell C. Morrison

Russell Creed Morrison, of Plainwell, passed away at home on August 24, 2026. He was born on November 7, 2010, in Kalamazoo, the son of Joshua Morrison and Cheryl Middlestadt.

Russell was preparing to enter his senior year at Plainwell High School as a member of the Class of 2027. A very smart young man, he maintained a 4.0 grade point average and had skipped both eighth and ninth grades, accomplishments that reflected his intelligence, dedication, and quiet determination.

He was an introvert who enjoyed his own space, yet his personality and interests left a lasting impression on those who knew and loved him. Russell loved SpongeBob, Legos, fishing and drawing and he approached life with a willingness to try anything at least once; unless, of course, it made him sweat. He gave soccer a try but quickly decided it was simply too hot, and while he enjoyed yard work, his enthusiasm often faded when the temperatures began to rise. He loved pizza rolls, mac and cheese and IyIy’s cheesecake, was a talented artist, and loved to draw, expressing creativity in ways that brought joy to his days and to those around him.

Surviving are his parents, Joshua (Samantha Thornton) Morrison of Plainwell and Cheryl (Johnathan) Middlestadt of Allegan; siblings, Doris Everna Ford Lee Morrison of Allegan and Thomas Creed Morrison of Allegan; a nephew due soon; grandparents, Diane Lynn Morrison, Everna and Donald Salsbury along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Earl Creed; great-grandmother, “Ama” Cheryl Knapp; uncle, Ford Robert Granger and aunt, Krisstina Granger.

Friends may visit with Russell’s family from 4-6PM, Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego with a time of sharing by his parents at 5:30 P.M.

Cremation will follow.

Those attending are encouraged to dress comfortably rather than wearing dress clothes.

Russell will be remembered with deep love for his bright mind, his individuality, and the special qualities that made him uniquely himself. His memory will be carried forward by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Beatrice A. Gauthier

Beatrice Gauthier passed away at the age of 90, on August 24, 2026, in Plainwell.

She was born on October 22, 1935, the daughter of Carl and Helen (Thompson) Barber. Beatrice graduated from Otsego High School in 1954. As a young woman she worked at the131 Drive-In and Millie’s Soda Shop before focusing on raising her family. In her later years Beatrice dedicated her time as a playground aide at Starr Elementary School in Plainwell where she was lovingly known as Ms. B.

She also enjoyed volunteering for Bingo at St. Margaret Catholic Church and with the Knights of Columbus. Beatrice was a member of the Otsego Elks, VFW Post #3030 and Moose Lodge. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, taking trips to the casino, trying her luck with scratch off lotto tickets, doing yard work and bonfires in her yard. In 1954 she married George Gauthier and they spent 44 years together until his passing in 1998.

Surviving are her children, Kathy Steele of Plainwell, Bev (Bob) Meert of Hopkins, Dawn (Eric Isaacsen) Richmond of Arizona, Gail (David) Chappell of Plainwell and George (Robin) Gauthier of Plainwell; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Yvonne Gauthier along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; longtime companion, Jim Endres and siblings, Gerald Barber, Lucille Woodhams, Lillian Stull, Doris Schuitaboer, Mildred Walker, Lawrence Barber, Marge Gilligan and her close sister, Bev Gauthier.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place.

A family graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at St. Margaret Cemetery in Otsego followed by a public celebration of Beatrice’s life starting at 12:30 P.M. until 3:30 P.M., at the Lake Doster County Club in Plainwell. Beatrice was someone who loved her country and enjoyed showing that love with patriotic colors, please help celebrate her spirit by wearing red, white and blue or something patriotic in her honor.

Sandra L. Reynolds

Sandra Lee (Maki) Reynolds came into this world on Tuesday, September 17, 1946, in Newberry, Michigan, and left this world on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Plainwell, Michigan.

Sandy was one of six daughters born to Henry and Trinnie Maki. While in high school, she met and married Chauncey Reynolds, who was serving in the United States Air Force and stationed in the Upper Peninsula. Together, they had three children: Chauncey “Rob,” Ron, and Karena.

Sandy enjoyed many things throughout her life, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren: Emily, Andrew, Laurin, Matthew, Mackenzie, Brandan, and Brooklynn. Her family was a very important part of her life, and she treasured the time she spent with them.

Sandy is survived by her children, Ron and Karena; her grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, Laurin, Matthew, Mackenzie, Brandan (Kylee), and Brooklynn; her great-grandchildren; her sister, Gail (Mark); sisters-in-law, Pat and Lois (Tom); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Trinnie Maki; her husband, Chauncey; her son, Chauncey “Rob”; daughter-in-law Jennifer; son-in-law Dixon; sisters Evelyn, Sylvia, Anna, and Linda; brother Henry; niece Patti; and nephew Danny.

Sandy’s wish for cremation has been honored. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

Howard R. Misner

The world will laugh a little less with the passing of Howard R. Misner, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, while spending time up north. Lovingly known as “Hod” by his many friends, he was born on August 15, 1940, in Otsego, to Neil and Virginia (Bushee) Misner. His life, marked by dedication to family, community, and a passion for service, leaves a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Howard graduated from Otsego High School in 1958 and attended Michigan College of Mining and Technology and Tri State University in Angola. In 1962, Howard married Melissa Wing at the First Congregational Church in Otsego. Together, they embarked on a shared adventure, moving first to Detroit, then to Rochester, where they established their home for many years before returning to the Otsego area in 2019. Their partnership was a cornerstone of Howard's life, built on love, respect, and mutual support.

Professionally, Howard dedicated over three decades to Ford Motor Company as a mechanical engineer, serving from 1963 until his retirement in 1995. Demonstrating a lifelong enthusiasm for innovation and problem-solving, he later served as a consultant for Cadillac Products for an additional ten years. Howard touched countless lives not only through his technical expertise but also through his warmth and willingness to help others. After his time at Cadillac Products, he continued to make an impact, working as a substitute math teacher and tutor in the Romeo area for several years. His commitment to nurturing young minds was unwavering.

Howard brought the same sense of devotion he exhibited professionally into his extracurricular interests and community involvement. He found joy in woodworking, caring for others, and spending restful moments camping and at his cherished cabin in the Upper Peninsula. A man of deep faith, Howard's relationship with the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Rochester spanned more than five decades. Throughout those years, he served in many capacities, always ready to lead or assist wherever the need was greatest.

Howard's life was marked, above all, by family and friendships that he nurtured with great care. He is survived by his beloved wife Melissa; daughters Jody (Todd) Chwatun and Jennifer (Wade) Dunlap; grandchildren Adam (Emma Brzezinski) Dunlap and Julia Chwatun; brother-in-law Gary Shook and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jim (Kathy) Misner and his sister Sondra Shook.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with Howard’s family starting at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., with Penny Lowes officiating.

Howard’s steadfast kindness, quiet strength, and tireless commitment to helping others will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. His was a life well lived, enriched by genuine connection, joyful service, and the enduring love of family and friends.

John C. Hiscock

John C. Hiscock passed away, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Stanford Lodge in Plainwell. He was born July 19, 1950, in Kalamazoo, the son of Carl and Doris (Melvin) Hiscock.

John graduated from Otsego High School in 1968 and attended Western Michigan University where he participated in ROTC program.

Throughout his career, John contributed his talents as a warehouse manager at Westinghouse Electric for many years. His dedication, work ethic, and steady presence were respected by colleagues and friends alike.

John’s greatest joy, however, was found in the simple pleasures of life and in caring for those around him. He participated in area bowling leagues with his friends, cherished the time spent fishing with his father and time spent on his grandfather’s farm. On June 14, 1970, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Drake in Kalamazoo. John’s love for family was profound; he was devoted to taking care of Marilyn, always striving to bring her happiness, willing to do anything; helping with chores, errands, or special surprises that might brighten her day.

Surviving along with Marilyn are his children, Heather (Tony Chapman) Hiscock of Kentucky and Heath (Melinda) Hiscock of Bloomingdale; granddaughters, Jeannette and Margaret; his sister, Carlene and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ed.

Friends may visit with John’s family starting at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Winkel Funeral Home, until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., with celebrant, Nyla Merrill officiating. Burial will follow at Kendall Cemetery in Pine Grove Township.

Patricia A. Earle

Patricia Ann Earle, lovingly known as Patty, passed away at her home in Otsego on August 11, 2026. She was born on March 2, 1953, in Plainwell, the daughter of Stevan and Onivas (Bailey) Nagy.

Patty graduated from Otsego High School in 1971. She worked for Parker Hannifin for more than 20 years and later worked at several area golf courses. Patty was also an active member of the Otsego VFW Post #3030 Auxiliary, where she ran the kitchen and worked as a bartender.

Those who knew Patty will remember her vibrant spirit, sense of adventure, and love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed golfing and riding motorcycles, and trips to the casino always brought her joy and excitement. She especially treasured time spent up north and held a special affection for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, particularly Strongs Corners near Newberry.

Patty was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed creating things for those she loved. Over the years, she made shirts for her boys, work shirts for herself, and Barbie clothes for her grandchildren.

Patty is survived by her partner in life, Jeff Cherrington; her sons, Jason (Jennifer) Enos of Plainwell and Doug (Christy) Enos of San Diego; grandchildren, Joseph, Madison, and Faith; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Saphira; siblings, Sharon Fales of Arizona, Sandy Rowlison of Otsego, and Susie Cobb of Hartland; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Michael Enos.

According to Patty’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Otsego VFW Post #3030.

Sally A. Pruitt

Sally Ann Pruitt passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at her home in Plainwell.

She was born on May 6, 1957, in L’Anse, the daughter of Robert and Kathryn (Scott) Christler. Sally was a proud member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. She liked spending her free time online, playing on her PC, watching Fox News and cooking. She was a devoted Detroit Lions fan and enjoyed a natural light beer on occasion.

For many years Sally worked at the Dussia House in Otsego and retired from Vicinia Gardens in early 2020. On September 24, 1999, in Allegan, she married James Pruitt who survives.

Also surviving are her children, Jessica (Matt Mulder) Sheets, Melissa (Joe) Gonzales, Mark Pruitt and Mike (Amber) Pruitt; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; siblings, Scott Christler, Mary Kaye Shalifoe, Martha Johnson and Cliff Durant along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dominic Durant.

Terry R. Harrison

Terry Randolph Harrison passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Wings Home in Allegan.Born on August 14, 1959, he was the son of Joseph and Rose (Durant) Harrison.

Terry began his career as a truck driver for Wi******er Steel and later drove for Boars Head and Spartan Foods. He went on to own and operate his own truck, making long haul trips across country as well as doing some local driving. Due to his frequent absences from home while on the road Terry enjoyed watching TV and spending time at home when not working. While working at Ely Manor he met the love of his life, Katherine Petersen. They were married February 17, 1989, in Allegan and spent 35 years together until her passing in 2024.

Surviving is his son Ken Harrison of Allegan and brother, Marvin Harrison of Gobles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings, Doug, Frank, Alfred, Linda, Jodie and Odie.
