Did you know the top interventions for children’s mental health are play and their relationship with their parent/caregiver? Some of our kiddo therapists favorite play activities that promote connection are: dancing to a song together, blowing bubbles, scavenger hunt while on a walk, having a picnic outside, board games, making slime, playing with your pet, just to name a few!⁣
⁣
These are all great activities to promote a positive sense of self, stress relief, emotional regulation, and more balanced + positive mental health (for adults too).⁣
⁣
Letting your child lead in play is important too! Following the child’s lead + letting them play freely without intervention/direction not only helps support their curiosity, creativity, and problem solving, but it also empowers them as well.

Let’s talk about what “𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵/𝗮𝗻𝗱” means + the importance of “𝗮𝗻𝗱”!⁣
⁣
More often than not, our minds tend to desire the “either/or” in what we are feeling or experiencing. For us, it’s generally easier and more comfortable to make more sense of things if we only think, feel or believe one thing at a time. ⁣
⁣
While more complex, holding space for “𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵/𝗮𝗻𝗱” can help us become more open, more self aware, more present in reality and remain grounded. “𝗔𝗻𝗱” has the potential to encourage acknowledging other people’s viewpoints, while also accepting our own. ⁣
⁣
We can miss an ex-partner 𝗔𝗡𝗗 not want to get back together.⁣
⁣
We can still be a giving + caring person 𝗔𝗡𝗗 maintain strict emotional boundaries.⁣
⁣
We can struggle with our mental health 𝗔𝗡𝗗 still be worthy of love. ⁣
⁣
We can strive to grow + change 𝗔𝗡𝗗 stay present in the moment.⁣
⁣
We can make mistakes 𝗔𝗡𝗗 still offer ourselves compassion. ⁣
⁣
We can be having a difficult time 𝗔𝗡𝗗 recognize other people are also struggling.

The both/and therapy group lobby is our favorite space within our office! Not only because did an amazing job decorating it. Nor because we have a coffee/tea station + a drink fridge for our clients. It’s our favorite because this is where your therapy journey begins!🖤⁣

GOOD NEWS! Thanks to virtual sessions, you don’t need to live in the KC metro area to be able to see Stephenie, Lex, Leah or Emma! All four of our therapists are currently offering virtual (video) sessions and accepting new clients. ⁣
⁣
Virtual sessions offer clients the ability to still begin or maintain their therapeutic journey from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Meeting via video also increases accessibility to therapeutic services for disable populations and rural areas. Additionally, it allows clients to be able to choose a therapist based on their specialities, instead of who is in close proximity to the client’s work/home.⁣
