Well this might be the largest Brain Pattern Interrupt I’ve ever witnessed. 🌭😂

Thousands of people stopped whatever they were thinking about and became completely invested in one very important mission: GET. THE. HOT. DOG. IN. THE. BUN.

For those few seconds, everyone was present. Strangers were working together. The entire stadium was connected over something completely ridiculous.

And years from now, people probably won’t remember the score of this game.

But they’ll always remember the hot dog story.

That’s the power of a Brain Pattern Interrupt. One unexpected moment took thousands of people with thousands of different things on their minds and gave them one shared experience to connect over.

Sometimes FUN finds you.

And when it does, be present enough to enjoy it.

How often do we tell someone, “Appreciate you,” without ever stopping to explain why?

The truth is, appreciation has become part of our everyday vocabulary. We say it as we walk away, end a meeting, or finish a phone call. While there’s nothing wrong with those two words, imagine how much more meaningful they become when we slow down and give them some substance.

Instead of simply saying, “I appreciate you,” try telling someone what you appreciate, why it mattered, and how it made you feel.

That small shift can completely change the moment.

What could have been another routine interaction becomes one that makes someone feel seen, valued, and remembered.

A Brain Pattern Interrupt doesn’t always have to be big or dramatic. Sometimes it’s as simple as choosing intentionality over going through the motions.

So here’s something to think about: Who in your life deserves to hear why you appreciate them today?

A Brain Pattern Interrupt isn’t about having the perfect joke, the perfect story, or the perfect plan.

It’s about creating enough space for something unexpected to happen.

So often, we move through conversations on autopilot. We stick to the script, focus on what we’re going to say next, and miss the opportunities unfolding right in front of us.

But the moment we become fully present, everything changes.

That’s what I experienced in this moment when I recognized Mary, my wonderful event chaperon, in the crowd.

I didn’t plan to run through the crowd, shouting like a madman and climbing over people just to give Mary a hug. But because I was fully present and willing to embrace the moment, what started as a simple interaction became a beautiful moment of genuine connection.

That’s the power of a Brain Pattern Interrupt. It doesn’t just change your thinking, it changes what’s possible in the moment.

The next time life gives you an opportunity I challenge you to step away from the script. You might discover that the best moments are the ones you never planned.

How often do you find yourself getting in the way of your own FUN?

It’s easy to convince ourselves that the people around us, our circumstances, or the challenges we face are the reason we can’t experience more joy. We spend so much time wishing things were different that we forget how much influence we actually have over our own experience.

The truth is, there will always be things outside of your control.

But here’s the good news: you don’t have to control everything to change your experience.

You can’t control how other people behave, BUT you can choose to stay present instead of getting lost in frustration. You can choose to look for what’s good instead of dwelling on what went wrong.

FUN isn’t about waiting for life to become easier. It’s about deciding that the challenges you face won’t determine how you show up.

One of the easiest ways to create a meaningful connection with someone is to show genuine interest in them. Yet, so many of our conversations stay at the surface level because we’re focused on ourselves. What we’re going to say next. How we’re coming across. Whether the conversation is going well.
But the moment we shift our focus to the other person, everything changes.

This interaction always reminds me of that.

What started as a brief exchange with a complete stranger turned into a much deeper conversation than either of us expected. Not because I had something profound to say, but because there was a willingness to be curious, ask questions, and learn more about the person standing in front of me.

Everybody has been through something, is going through something, or will inevitably go through something.

The more interested we become in understanding others, the more opportunities we create for connection.

The next time you’re talking with someone, I challenge you to spend a little less time thinking about what you’re going to say...and a little more time being curious about who they are.

There was a day in your life when you wanted exactly what you have right now. At one point, the things you have now lived on a vision board, in a journal, or in your hopes and dreams.

And now, you’ve got it. You have the job you always wished for, the big happy family, or maybe even just the best looking lawn on the block. You worked hard and achieved these milestones.

So why, do so many people spend their time thinking about what’s next instead of enjoying the moment and appreciate what you have NOW.

We chase the next milestone.
The next promotion.
The next achievement.
The next version of ourselves.

The life we once dreamed about becomes the life we barely stop to notice.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with ambition. Growth is a beautiful thing. But so is gratitude.

So here’s something to think about:

What if, just for a moment, you stopped focusing on where you’re going and took inventory of everything in your life now that you are grateful for?

You might realize the younger version of yourself would be pretty proud of the life you’re living today.

Your brain is stuck in a loop right now.

Not because something’s wrong with you. Because that’s what brains do. They replay the last hard conversation. They anticipate the next difficult one. They run on a track you didn’t choose — and before you know it, you’re physically present but mentally somewhere else entirely.

That’s the thought loop.

And you can’t think your way out of a thought loop. You have to interrupt it.

Sometimes that’s as simple as a walk. Singing a song. Googling a dad joke. Sharing appreciation for others.

Choose presence. Choose the walk. Smile often. Have FUN.

Last week I got the incredible opportunity to play a role in the Annual Sales Conference. From our initial conversation, through the entire planning process and up to the end of our experience, I was blown away by the leadership of Ryan Wesselschmidt, Alex Schroeder and John Burch. They challenged me to leverage messaging of connection, brain pattern interrupts and an elevated level of service in my presentation to help their team thrive in “The Next Frontier” of organizational growth. Their passion for the development of others, authenticity and overall presence really made an impact on me.

As the closing speaker, I was afforded the opportunity to sit in on a lot of the conference and meet many of the attendees before my presentation. I knew it was going to be different than other events when I walked into the restroom and Thomas Skeen was humming “The Sign” by Ace of Base. 😆

When I finally got on stage, the energy and enthusiasm I felt from the group was contagious. There’s absolutely no question in my mind how they’ve seen such great success in Q1.

Following my keynote, I was invited to meet with some of their top performers, hang at a cocktail hour and attend their awards banquet. I’m not certain there was one attendee that made eye contact with me that didn’t immediately come say a kind word or shake my hand. For context, I’ve never shaken that many hands in my life!

Thank you, Husqvarna. Your culture, people and kindness made this event one of my most memorable to date. A special shoutout to my friends Heather R. Mehalic and Jennifer Doolittle for helping make it possible. Here’s wishing you all continued success in 2026!

Last week I had the incredible opportunity to keynote the 2026 Franchise Conference through my friends

From the jump, I was drawn to the leadership of Dean, Mike and Bill (pictured). Their ability to communicate their vision, outcomes and specific messaging created crystal clear expectations while highlighting their passion for helping their franchise teams.

After a site visit to the incredible , several calls, and a quote for painting services, I was sold. Not only did I want to be their keynote speaker, I wanted to be THEIR client! and I hired them and we were blown away by their level of service.

As the event grew near, CEO, Mike Stone challenged me to leverage my experiences with their brand to drive home a message of creating Beyond Happy customers through a commitment to being relational vs transactional. Following our soundcheck, I asked him if there was anything else he needed from me. His response, “just get a standing ovation!” 👏

Being on that stage with the CertaPro team will go down as one of my most memorable events. The humility, time investment in preparation and genuine interest every member of the CertaPro team expressed helped create an experience that allowed a connection with attendees that truly moved me.
