One of the most interesting findings in sauna research comes from a large Finnish cohort study that followed more than 2,000 middle-aged men for over 20 years.

Those who used the sauna 4–7 times per week had a ~40% lower risk of all-cause mortality compared with those using it once per week.

Why might this be?

Regular sauna exposure creates a form of controlled physiological stress—often referred to as hormesis. Heat exposure increases heart rate, promotes vasodilation, and places temporary demands on the cardiovascular system that may help support cardiovascular function over time.

Frequent sauna use has also been associated with lower risks of cardiovascular and other health outcomes.

The findings are compelling—and they add to a growing body of research suggesting that regular heat exposure may be a valuable addition to an overall healthy lifestyle.

Red light therapy is more than just a wellness trend. 🔴

Photobiomodulation uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to interact with your cells and influence processes involved in cellular energy, circulation, inflammation, tissue repair, and more.

That’s why a few minutes under the panels can be part of a bigger recovery routine—whether you’re looking to support your skin, recover from training, or simply give your body a little more attention.

A few minutes. A different kind of recovery.

Cold water creates an immediate stress response in the body. Your heart rate rises, your breathing becomes quicker and more shallow, and every instinct tells you to get out.

This is where the breath becomes such an important part of the plunge.

Rather than fighting the initial discomfort, focus on slowing everything down. Controlled breathing—especially a longer, relaxed exhale—can help you regain control of your breathing pattern as your body begins adapting to the cold.

And that’s part of what makes cold exposure so interesting. You’re voluntarily stepping into a stressful environment and practicing how to remain calm inside of it.

The cold creates the stimulus.
Your breath changes the experience.

Game day preparation starts long before kickoff.

Wayden and his wife made time for recovery at Chill the day before his rugby competition. While she enjoyed her own wellness session, Wayden experienced his first cold plunge, with the temperature customized to his comfort.

Recovery isn’t one size fits all, and neither is your first plunge.

Ready to experience Chill for yourself? We are running a GREAT deal. Link in bio.

Most people think contrast therapy is about recovery.

And yes—it can absolutely help you feel better physically.

But what keeps me coming back is what it does mentally.

Every cold plunge is an opportunity to practice staying calm when your body wants to panic. Every sauna session is a reminder to slow down in a world that’s constantly asking us to speed up. Together, they create a unique kind of training—not for your muscles, but for your nervous system.

You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit. If you’ve been feeling mentally drained, overwhelmed, or simply disconnected from yourself, a dedicated hour away from your phone, your notifications, and your daily stress might be exactly what you need.

Sometimes recovery isn’t about doing more.

It’s about creating space to breathe.

Microplastics have become one of the biggest health conversations of the last few years, but it’s important to separate what’s supported by evidence from what’s still being studied.

We know sweat isn’t just for cooling the body. Research has shown that certain heavy metals and some environmental chemicals can be detected in sweat. At the same time, we don’t yet have strong evidence that microplastic particles themselves are excreted through sweat.

That doesn’t make infrared sauna any less valuable.

Consistent sauna use has well-established benefits for cardiovascular health, recovery, circulation, relaxation, and overall well-being. Combined with hydration, exercise, quality nutrition, and reducing unnecessary plastic exposure, it becomes another powerful habit that supports long-term health.

At Chill, we believe wellness is built through consistent habits—not quick fixes.

Most people think of red light therapy for muscle recovery or skin health, but one of the most exciting areas of research is happening inside the eye.

Your retina has one of the highest energy demands of any tissue in the body. It relies on healthy mitochondria to convert light into the images you see every day. Emerging research suggests that specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light may help support mitochondrial function, reduce oxidative stress, and improve certain aspects of retinal function. While the findings are promising, larger clinical studies are still needed before broad recommendations can be made.

At Chill, we believe in following the science—not the hype. Red light therapy isn’t a replacement for healthy habits or regular eye care, but it’s an exciting area of research with the potential to support long-term wellness.

The Fourth tends to be loud—late nights, heat, food, drinks, overstimulation.

Recovery is a chance to balance that out.

Whether it’s 15 minutes in the sauna, a cold plunge, or moving between both, contrast therapy helps regulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and bring you back to baseline. A good reminder that taking care of yourself can be part of the celebration too.
