👂🏊♂️ Swimmer’s ear is caused by water that stays trapped in the ear canal, creating the perfect environment for irritation and infection. 👉👉 Keep the water out to lower the risk.
✅ Tilt and dry ears after swimming. Use a towel on the outer ear, and SKIP the cotton swabs. Instead, consider a hair dryer on the LOWEST setting, held at a safe distance to dry the canal.
✅ Ear plugs and swim caps help, good luck 🍀 getting your kid to wear them.
✅ After the pool, put a few drops of a preventive drying drop into each ear. Drops are cheap and available over-the-counter, or make your own at home by mixing equal parts rubbing alcohol and white vinegar. But, don’t use drying drops if your kid has ear tubes or if their ear is already sore.
A little poolside care can save you from spending your ☀️summer day at the doctor’s office, but we are here if you need us — just call!📱
