The cast saw can look intimidating, but it's actually designed to safely remove the cast—not your skin!
During cast removal, you'll hear a loud buzzing sound and feel some vibration. Most people don't find it painful, although it can feel a little warm or uncomfortable at times. Once the cast is cut, it's gently opened and removed.
If you or your child has a cast coming off soon, I hope this gives you a better idea of what to expect and helps make the experience feel a little less intimidating.
