Yearly, Florida LMs submit their midwifery statistics to the FL DOH. Dedicating 1 month off call quarterly has been a game changer and I’m grateful I can maintain a decent work/life balance.
Midwifery care is not about numbers. Numbers don’t compare to the patience, tenacity, and love I am honored to witness daily. While nobody can predict labor or its outcome, everyone succeeds with a strong support system, having access to all available options, and using them as needed regardless of where/how the delivery happens
