Shirley Ann Deal-Clark

On Monday, July 27, 2026, Shirley Ann Deal-Clark, went home to be with our Lord at The Waters of Rockport Nursing Facility, in Rockport, IN, at the age of 91. She was born on November 21, 1934, and attended Western High School. She had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Fourth Street Baptist Church, in Owensboro, KY.

She moved to Evansville, IN in 1954 and was married to the late Melvin Collins. Years later, on January 23, 1972 she was married to the late Leslie Clark, the man of her dreams. They were married for 17 wonderful years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Motee and Nathaniel Deal, four brothers, Nathaniel Deal, II, Benjamin A. Deal, Sherman Deal, Eugene C. Deal, Sr., three sisters, Motee “Tootsie” Deal-Liggins, Mary A. Deal-Glover, and Modestine Deal-Bibbs-Howard.

While living in Evansville, she loved to bowl, and had played on various teams with many close friends and winning bowling tournaments. She was employed as a private housekeeper for the Margie Bradley family for 20 years, the American Legion Post 354 in Evansville as a Bar Maid for 40 plus years, and a member of the local Ladies Auxiliary Unit.

Shirley and Les loved to entertain family and friends, because of her friendly, compassionate, and out-going personality, Shirley was known as the life of the party. She loved music, especially the Blues. She never met a stranger and had a kind and giving heart to just about everyone she came in contact with. Many times, she would see a less fortunate stranger on the street and would give them a monetary gift. She would say, “God has blessed me and I want to bless someone else.” When Family and friends would tell her, “I love you,” she would always respond back with her famous, “I love you more.” In recent years, she was called “Mom” by a large number of her younger close friends.

She was a resident of One Park Place, and also Morning Pointe, assisted living facilities in Owensboro before she was transferred to The Waters of Rockport Nursing Facility in Rockport, IN.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Shirley will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation services will be on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 4-6 p.m. at McFarland Funeral Home, Inc., 1001 West 5th Street, Owensboro, and on Monday August 3, 2026 beginning at 10 a.m. at Fourth Street Baptist Church, 821 West Fourth Street, Owensboro. Immediately following, at 11 a.m. will be her Celebration of Life service. Burial will be at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery, 1300 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY.

Mary Lee McDermott

Mary Lee McDermott, age 65, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, was born in Louisville, Kentucky on April 7, 1961. She passed away in Owensboro, Kentucky June 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering loyalty to those she held dear.

Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Anna Clariene (Mingus) Wiesemann; her father, James McDermott; her sister, Angela Hope (Scott) Wiesemann; and her infant son, Jamie Temples.

She is survived by her son, Brent Allen Lee Temples; her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ann Temples; and her niece, Natalie Anastasia (Wiesemann) Maravilla.

Mary was a sweet soul beloved by many. Her life was defined by service, love, and commitment to the people she cared about. She surrounded herself with friends and family—both by blood and by choice—who were the center of her world. Through every chapter of her life, she showed what truly mattered to her: love, loyalty, and dedication. Her gentle spirit and steadfast heart touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. No services pending.

Raymond Lowery

Deacon Raymond Lowery of Owensboro, KY passed away on June 19th at the age of 90. Raymond was born February 11th, 1936, in Hawesville, KY to Mary Belmar and Phil Lowery who both proceeded him in death.

Raymond spent his life devoted to his family and friends. Raymond was a kind soul that brought laughter and joy to everyone who knew him. His favorite things to do were working in his garden, watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball, and rooting for his Kentucky Wildcats.

Raymond retired from the City of Owensboro's Sanitation Department in 1991. He was affectionately called "Big 8" and that nickname stuck with him throughout his life. Raymond was also a huge wrestling fan, and his favorite wrestler was "The Nature Boy" Rick Flair. Raymond had lots of things that he loved but nothing brought him more joy than being around his family.

Raymond never met a stranger and had too many friends to mention.

Raymond is survived by three children; Raymond Jr., Rosalind, and William Lowery; 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; Samir Springfield, Kimora, and Kalaya Lowery.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was also proceeded in death by his siblings; Rose, Mary, and Frank Lowery as well as his beloved Aunt Martha Cable.

Although we are grieving the fact that Raymond is no longer with us, we take solace in knowing that his relationship with God was always strong and he will most assuredly be watching over his loved ones from heaven as we continue to make it without his physical presence here to comfort us.

Rest in Peace Raymond! You will always be loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday July 3, 2026 at Fourth Street Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY where Rhonda Pearson is the senior pastor and with Rev. Rhondalyn Randolph as the eulogist. Visitation was held from 1:30 p.m. until time of the service at the church.

Phillip James Walls, Jr.

OBITUARY

Phillip James Walls Jr., 68, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, just days before his 69th birthday. Born on June 15, 1957, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Phillip James Walls Sr. and Jane Walls, Phillip lived a life defined by service, faith, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Phillip proudly served in the United States Army from March 18, 1977, to August 17, 1980. After completing his military service, he built a respected career in Information Technology, where he excelled through his deep knowledge, steady dedication, and remarkable problem‑solving skills. In retirement, he embraced the pursuits he loved most.

A lifelong learner, Phillip cultivated an extensive personal library and held a profound passion for reading. He authored and published two books, Dancing on a Hill and Dying to Succeed, works that reflected his thoughtful nature and desire to inspire others. He was also an avid cyclist who found peace, clarity, and freedom on long rides. Above all, Phillip was a man of strong Christian faith, a foundation that guided his choices, shaped his relationships, and sustained him throughout his life.

Phillip’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children, Phillip Anthony Walls and Davina Walls; seven grandchildren; and one great‑grandchild, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. His love, wisdom, and steady presence will continue to live on through them.

He is also survived by his loving mother, Jane Walls; five sisters, Pamela Acton, Janie Fenwick, Cynthia Walls Johnson (Ricky), Natisha Walls, all of Owensboro, and Tonya Walls of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Wade Walls and Stephen Walls; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Phillip will be remembered for his quiet strength, thoughtful spirit, sharp intellect, and unwavering faith. His kindness, generosity, and encouragement touched countless lives. His legacy of love, service, and integrity endures in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Miyosha "Mo Brick" Moorman

April 18, 1971 – June 13, 2026

Miyosha "Mo Brick" Moorman, age 55, passed away on June 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

Born on April 18, 1971, in Owensboro, Kentucky, Miyosha was raised in a community that shaped her into the fierce and compassionate woman she would become. She graduated from Owensboro Senior High School, where the foundations of her bold character were laid. Continuing her education, she attended and graduated from CCBI College in Syracuse, NY. With that milestone accomplished she embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Syracuse, New York, where she built a meaningful career serving others — holding positions with Deluxe Corporation, Syracuse Legal Aid, and National Grid. Her time in Syracuse reflected her versatility, work ethic, and commitment to contributing wherever she was planted.

Miyosha later made her home in Nashville, Tennessee, where she dedicated herself to the nourishment and well-being of children as a School Nutritionist for the Nashville school system. It was a role that suited her perfectly — she was someone who believed in taking care of people, starting with the youngest and most vulnerable.

Those who knew Miyosha knew her as a fierce protector. She spoke her mind without hesitation, but always with an empathy that let you know she genuinely understood your struggle. She was the kind of person who showed up — for family, for friends, for anyone who needed her. Her presence was felt deeply, and her absence will be felt just the same.

Miyosha is survived by her devoted father, Michael Moorman Sr., and her beloved mother, Patricia Moorman. She leaves behind four sisters — Michelle, Maria, Brandy, and Heather Moorman — and two brothers, Michael Moorman Jr. and Jonathan Moorman. She is also survived by her sons Donovan, Broxston, and Norris Moorman; her daughter-in-law Shyazia Mason; and her daughter-in-law Malai Moorman. She cherished her grandchildren, Kyah Mason-Moorman and Maya Moorman, and maintained a warm and positive co-parenting relationship with the father of her children, Norris Rodgers. She is also survived by Charmaine Mason, mother of Shyazia, who was part of the broader family circle she held close.

Miyosha was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a cousin to countless family members who will carry her memory forward with pride.

She was more than a mother, more than a sister, more than a friend — she was the kind of force that doesn't come along often. The world was better with her in it.

DeMaris Jean Morton

Demaris “Sissy” Morton entered eternal rest on Saturday, 13 June 2026, surrounded by her family and the compassionate care of Hospice of Western Kentucky at the Heartford House. Born and raised in Owensboro, Sissy grew up in the fellowship of Fourth Street Baptist Church, where her faith took root and her community flourished.

Sissy lived with a vibrant spirit. She cheered fiercely for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, loved the drama and comfort of her favorite soap operas, and followed politics with passion and curiosity. Her laughter, her opinions, and her unmistakable presence will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Mary Morton; her aunts, Shirley Howard and Anna Johnson; and her uncle, Ernest Morton.

Left to cherish her memory are her father, Charles Morton of Warner Robins, GA; her brother, Ricky Morton (LaDonna) of Fort Washington, MD; and her sisters: Wendy Hardcastle and Kim Morton of Owensboro, Sonya McDaniel of Memphis, TN, and Denisha (Devon) Williams of Louisville, KY. Sissy’s legacy continues through her 11 nieces and nephews—Keyvon, Kahlil, Chance (Camille), Darryl Jr., Inglish, T’Onna, Tyreem, Thomas Jr., Desmond, Brianna, and Nadija—and her 15 great-nieces and great-nephews: Chance Jr., Chanson, Keagan, Braelyn, Kasha, Layla, Devon, Naomi, Italee, Houston, Kamilee, Tyreem Jr., Tymeer, KaMya, and Hendrix.

She is also survived by two aunts, Cozetta Nurse of Owensboro and Gwendolyn Edwards (TD) of Augusta, GA; one uncle, Michael Morton Sr. of Owensboro; and a wide circle of cousins and friends. The family offers special thanks to her cherished friends Bonnie Talbott, Angie Green, and Mary Bell for their unwavering love.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 20. 2026 at Fourth Street Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY with the Rev. Larry D. Lewis presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Committal and burial to follow the service at Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Jerry Lynn Young

Jerry Lynn Young, 63, of Fordsville, passed away on May 16, 2026 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born February 17, 1963 to the late Clay and Mildred (Whitehouse) Young in Owensboro, KY.

Jerry is survived by his brother Ricky (Cyndi) Young, nephew Brad (Louise) Young and family, niece Heather (Joe) Logsdon and family, Aunt Betty Whitehouse and several cousins.

There will be no visitation. Jerry will be laid to rest, next to his parents at Blackford Cemetery, located at Blackford Baptist Church, 6795 KY 2181, Hawesville KY 42348. Graveside service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 1 pm. All are welcome.

The family would like to thank Fordsville Nursing and Rehabilitation for their care of Jerry.

Frances Arlene Moseley

Frances Moseley from Owensboro went to be with her family in the sky on May 8th 2026.

She is preceeded in death by her parents Jesse and Ruby Baggarly; her brothers Glenden, Jimmy, and Thomas Baggarly; and her sister Girtey Camp. Also she has laid to rest her children Margie A. and Michael R. Thomas.

She is survived by her daughter Melody Ward and grandchildren Jonathan Ward Jr., Justin Ward, Dawna Ward, and Samual Ward. Along with her brother Jerry Baggarly and sister Patricia D. Gramlin. Along with several nieces and nephews.

She helped raise Katie Willis and Nezzie Lopez along with many other children and loved them as if they were her own. This is what brought her joy in life. She will sadly be missed by many loved ones.

Trumiller Grant

Trumiller Grant, 72, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on July 28, 1953, to the late Charles and Dorothy Wimsatt.

After graduating from Owensboro High School, Trumiller earned an associate degree and went on to apply her excellent math skills in her work as an administrative assistant for several companies, including Field Packing Company and Dismas House Charities, both of Owensboro.

Trumiller was a devoted member of Sweeney Street Baptist Church of Owensboro. She was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan and took great joy in home décor, where she excelled in creating warm, welcoming spaces for family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at McFarland Funeral Home, 1001 W 5th St, Owensboro, KY 42301, with Rev. Robert C. Kendrick, Pastor of Sweeney Street Baptist Church, presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
