Counseling Associates is pleased to welcome Keila Fulkerson to our practice. We have had the pleasure of Keila expanding her hours with us for the last several months and she is now available to welcome new clients Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Keila is a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor who obtained her Master’s Degree from the University of the Cumberlands. Keila works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families ages 12 and up helping to navigate life stressors such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, anger, relationship struggles, parenting concerns and LGBTQ+ support. She uses evidenced based approaches such as Reality Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients gain insight, build skills, and create lasting change. Her focus is to ensure clients feel truly heard and supported and will work together toward achieving their goals.

With 26 years of social work experience, Christie has dedicated her career to improving the lives of children and families through compassionate, evidence-based care. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy (SFT), integrating these approaches to help children identify strengths, develop healthy coping skills, and build resilience in the face of life’s challenges.

Christie’s extensive background includes service in child protective services, targeted case management, and school-based therapeutic programs. These diverse experiences have given her a deep understanding of the systems that affect children’s well-being and the collaborative strategies needed to support lasting change.

Her clinical work focuses on helping children navigate emotional, behavioral, and academic difficulties, fostering growth through empathy, structure, and skill development. Christie values collaboration with families, educators, and community partners to create supportive environments where children can thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Guided by her personal philosophy to “never waste a hurt,” Christie believes that every challenge presents an opportunity for healing and growth. Her mission is to help children and families transform hardship into hope, empowering them to turn their experiences into purpose and progress.

We at Counseling Associates of Owensboro had Four Seasons Heating and Cooling, Inc. install a new heating unit for us this week. It was a very positive experience. They were professional, friendly, competent and cleaned up better than we do! We highly recommend them and will definitely utilize their services in the future.
