Living Not Just Surviving

Living Not Just Surviving Pulmonary Embolism/DVT and the mother of a stroke survivor sharing my story and random thoughts one

Willoweagle's Story~ Christmas Day 2012:
Nearly six months ago…I cheated death by surviving the coroner’s ‘bread and butter’. I threw a 10 mm 'saddle' clot which stopped my heart for an unknown amount of time…but merely seconds on a clock. This disease/disorder/deficiency will eventually kill me unless human accident gets me first. I’m trying to find others to gather with me in searching for more

answers to many unknown questions and alternative preventative treatments. If not a cure in my lifetime, than a cure for my son and his unborn children….Please help me in the fight against this silent killer.

It's not just Coumadin/Warfin that can reek havoc at times as this was my morning on Eliquis. Doctor says it's all good. No damage. No clotting. Though it's more swelling then normally seen. Eye drops and rest are key right now. Little early for Halloween even if it HAS given me quite the fright.

One of my biggest hurdles in my adult life has been my weight. As someone with chronic medical issues, one who has dealt with lessened mobility, and also chronic swelling, this can be very disheartening. I can honestly gain up to 20 lbs in just a few days due to these issues. That being said, I've worked REALLY hard, especially the last 3 years and during that time I've learned even more about nutrition and exercise over the fad weiught loss programs I've used throughout my entire adult life.
I'm happy to say that through the nutrition programs, physical therapy, and counseling, I have officially kept off 50 lbs over the last 18 months. It hasn't been easy. It's taken a lot of hard work and support from family and friends to achieve this. Thank you to everyone that has been there for and with me during this . It's definitely been a marathon and not a sprint. This is a journey that is now a part of my every day and one that I will continue in my goal of being as healthy as I CAN be for ME. Wellness looks different for everyone. It's not just what's in a medical chart or statistics or hard crunched numbers. It's where YOU feel your best a majority of the time. Learning to love myself has been a long time coming. I'm still learning, and I'm loving the ME that I have become and am still growing into.
