You didn’t lose yourself in motherhood, you’re becoming someone new 💛

If you’ve ever looked in the mirror after becoming a mom and thought, “I don’t even recognize myself anymore,” it is way more common than you think.

There’s a name for this experience: matrescence - the psychological, emotional, physical, and identity transition that happens when you become a mother.

You can deeply love your child while also grieving parts of your old life.
You can be grateful and overwhelmed.
Have support and still feel lonely.
Confident and completely unsure of who you are now.

These are all normal feelings and thoughts as you’re adapting to one of the biggest life transitions a person can experience.

Avoidance can feel like relief in the moment, but over time, it trains your brain to stay anxious 😥🧠

The more we avoid the thing that scares us…the more our brain starts to believe:“this must be dangerous.”

That’s how anxiety quietly grows.

Learning to take small steps toward fear (instead of away from it) helps build confidence, emotional resilience, and trust in yourself over time. ✨💚

People pleasing isn’t just being “too nice.” It looks like anxiety, fear of rejection, over-performing, fitting in, and feeling responsible for everyone else’s emotions.
