⚓️ LIVING LIKE A McAULEY! 🛥️🎉

Monday was Dr. McAuley’s birthday, but TODAY we celebrated the only way that felt appropriate… by Living Like a McAuley! ⚓️

If you know Dr. McAuley, you know some of his favorite time is spent with his family… preferably at the lake, on an island, or anywhere he gets to fulfill his very important role as CAPTAIN. 😂🫡

And honestly… it’s not all that different from the clinic. He runs a pretty tight ship around here, too! ⚓️😂

So today, the OSBC crew climbed aboard, threw on his captain hat, and celebrated with a good old-fashioned shrimp boil! 🦐🌽🥔

Happy Birthday, Dr. McAuley! Thanks for keeping this crew afloat, keeping us laughing, and always steering the ship in the right direction.

Here’s to another year of Living Like a McAuley! ⚓️🌊🥳

“My name is Autum. I had gastric sleeve surgery on December 18th, 2023. My highest weight was 293 pounds. My surgery weight was 255 pounds. My goal weight was 150 pounds, and I am now at 144 pounds as my current weight. Growing up, I was always the bigger kid and have always struggled with my weight. I had very low self-esteem and confidence. Didn’t like my picture taken, didn’t like how I looked, and I still struggle with that from time to time, but I’m working on it. I have tried diets and exercise through the years but could never seem to stick with it, or they just stopped working for me.

In 2018, I started having some health problems that turned out to be diagnosed as congestive heart failure. This is hereditary on my dad’s side of the family. Finding all of this out at the age of 29 was overwhelming. I had to have a defibrillator implant put in on December 21st of 2018. After that, my doctor took me off work, and I ended up being laid off because the business was shutting down. I then filed for disability due to my heart problems. I have also had to have my appendix and my gallbladder removed through the years.

With the heart problems that I have had, I was put on a lot of medications. Nine pills a day, some of them twice a day. My heart percentage had gotten down to 15 - 20 percent. I also had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, several heart medications for my CHF, and my blood sugar was high. My heart percentage stayed the same until just this past year. Now that I have had the surgery and lost the weight, my heart percentage improved to 50 - 55 percent. I am also off all of my medications.

I feel better now than I ever have felt, and I am able to do more things than I ever could. Bariatric surgery/Gastric Sleeve was truly the best decision that I have ever made. It has honestly saved my life. I have the bariatric clinic to thank for giving me this opportunity to help change my life for the better. I will always be grateful to the Oxford Surgical and Bariatric Clinic team!"

🎻🤠 Saddle up, y’all! 🤠🎻

Today we’re celebrating the man, the myth, the cowboy… Dr. Byars!

For one day only, the operating room has been traded for cowboy hats and bluegrass!

Anyone who knows Dr. Byars knows he loves a good joke, a good time, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

So here’s to another trip around the sun, another year of changing lives, and another year of reminding us that hard work and a little laughter can go a long way.

Happy birthday to the top cowboy in town! 🐎🇺🇸🎂

Now somebody cue the banjos and bring on the key lime pie! 🎻

👽 “ET phone home…”

We may have accidentally wrapped up an extra-terrestrial in the clinic today… 🤷‍♀️😂

Don’t worry, though, our team knows exactly what they’re doing. We just like to have a little fun.

So maybe it’s not “ET phone home”…
Maybe it’s…

“ET, call OSBC!” 😉

🇺🇸 What does freedom look like?

For one of our patients, freedom looked like making the decision to finally choose herself.

“If you would have told me 2½ years ago that I would prioritize myself and take control of my health, I never would have believed you. As a wife and mother of two active teenagers, taking care of myself felt overwhelming. It was easier to ignore the problem than face it.

After researching bariatric surgery and attending my first support group at Oxford Surgical & Bariatric Clinic, I knew I had found the place where my life would change.

I began my journey at 315 pounds, weighed 283 pounds on surgery day, and today I’ve lost 155 pounds. But what I’ve gained is so much more.

The time I chose to invest in myself gave me a new outlook on life, healthier choices, and the bright, active future my family and I deserve.

It’s time to take care of you.”

This Fourth of July, we’re reminded that freedom comes in many forms.

✨ Freedom to move without limitations.
✨ Freedom to live with purpose and confidence.
✨ Freedom to become the person you’ve always known was possible.

Your journey won’t look exactly like someone else’s, but every journey begins with one courageous decision.

This Independence Day, maybe it’s time to reclaim your health… and your future.

❤️ Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Oxford Surgical & Bariatric Clinic.
