3 reasons why you should not see a therapist…..

Sorry, couldn’t think of any.

Unless you count that you might actually start understanding yourself, or you may become annoyingly good at setting boundaries, or worse of all, you might realize you don’t have to figure everything out alone.

I’ll be straight with you…life gets ridiculously hard sometimes.

When you’re in a dark place, people will say things like “it gets better” or “everything happens for a reason.” And though they mean well and probably don’t really know what to say, when you’re going through it those words don’t really resonate.

So I’m not going to give you a motivational speech. But I will say that your life matters, right now, as you are. You don’t have to fix your whole life today. You don’t have to figure out next year or even next week. You just have to stay here for today.

If you’re carrying weight that feels too heavy to hold by yourself, please don’t carry it alone. Talk to a friend, reach out to us at TAP, or call for help.

Oxford is better with you in it.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. It’s free, confidential, and available 24/7.

I’m not gonna judge you or throw a fit. Therapy isn’t school. You don’t get sent to the principal’s office for making human choices. We just look at what happened, laugh a little, and figure out a better plan.

09/03/2026

You don’t have to be fully functional, unbothered, and thriving 24/7. Life gets heavy, and the “I got it” badge gets real tiring to wear. Sometimes you can carry the load on your own, and sometimes you need someone in your corner to help you.

This Su***de Prevention Month, we want to remind our Oxford community that you never have to carry your heaviest moments alone.

Healing isn't linear, and reaching out for support is a sign of immense courage. Whether you are a student, a parent, a longtime local, or a neighbor, your story matters and your presence makes a difference.

If you or someone you care about is struggling, please know that compassionate help is always within reach:

- Call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline (free, confidential, 24/7).
- Text HOME to 741741 to connect with the Crisis Text Line.
- Reach out directly to our team to connect with a licensed counselor here in Oxford.

Please share this information with your network.

You are seen, you are valued, and you don't have to walk this path by yourself. 💛

The charts will still be there in ten minutes. It’ll get done I promise 🫶🏻 Moments like these are necessary. Carry on.

I’d be a hypocrite if I pretended I had it all figured out.

Your feelings aren’t up for debate, and you definitely don’t need another person telling you what you should or shouldn’t be experiencing. At TAP, we leave the clinical pretentiousness at the door. You just show up as you and we’ll work through it together.

(But seriously, lmk your go-to Oxford taco spot in the comments so I can expand my “research” 😁)

Sometimes the best you can do is give it your some. It seems like “taking care of yourself” has become a trend for social media instead of actually taking care of yourself for real.

You don’t have to be doing all the things all the time. There’s no award for ‘healed the best.’

So if you need to sit in the car for 20 minutes and stare at the steering wheel, do it. Take the break.

And if you ever feel like even that’s not enough. Help is available. Right here in Oxford.
