Per aspera ad astra.
“Through hardships to the stars.”

It’s okay to sit with discomfort while you heal and grow.

Our brains learn through experience and repetition. When we practice responding differently. Setting a boundary, allowing an emotion, or pausing before reacting. We give ourselves opportunities to build new patterns. With time, those responses can become more familiar and easier to access.

But unfamiliar can feel uncomfortable, even when it’s healthy. Saying no may bring guilt. Being vulnerable may feel awkward. Changing an old coping pattern may stir up anxiety.

In counseling, we make room for those feelings while learning how to move through them at a manageable pace. We can feel discomfort without immediately needing to escape it, fix it, or let it make our decisions.

That doesn’t mean enduring harm or pushing ourselves past our limits. It means giving ourselves enough safety, support, and patience to practice something new.

You can feel uncomfortable and still be making progress. You can struggle with a new response and still be learning.

Sometimes growth sounds like: “This is hard, and I can take one small step.”

You can love Jesus and still need help healing what happened in your family.

My new workbook, Healing in the Heart of the Desert: A Biblical and Trauma-Informed Workbook for Family Patterns and Generational Curses, is grounded in biblical truth while drawing on therapeutically sound concepts and practical exercises. It was created to offer a compassionate path toward healing; one that does not rely on guilt or shame, responses that have too often been associated with the church but are not reflective of God’s heart.

I created it for Christian women who want to understand generational trauma, recognize inherited patterns, and begin making different choices that don’t subjugate them to a historically narcissistic system, for themselves and the generations that follow.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a reminder that love should never come at the cost of your safety, peace, or sense of self. 💜 Abuse isn’t always physical; it can look like manipulation, intimidation, isolation, or using fear to control your choices. If you’ve been questioning whether your relationship is abusive, know that you deserve to have your concerns taken seriously. You are not alone, and support is available even if you’re not ready to leave or aren’t sure what to do next. You deserve a relationship where you feel safe, respected, and free to be yourself.
