We are launching a new monthly feature called "Remembering Their Story" and we are first featuring Marilyn Monroe, who passed away on August 5, 1962.

Behind the icon, those who knew her remembered someone warm, funny, and endlessly curious — an avid reader who kept a personal library of hundreds of books, always eager to learn something new.

Marilyn Monroe's funeral was a small, private service at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles. Attendance was limited to only 25 of her closest friends, family, and colleagues. She was laid to rest in her favorite emerald green sheath dress and a solid bronze casket lined with champagne satin. The service was arranged by her ex-husband Joe Dimaggio who continued to place roses on her grave at Crypt No. 24 in the cemetery's Corridor of Memories multiple times a week for decades, in an act of profound love for the actress and the legacy she left behind.

Her public image was carefully built, but her legacy reminds us that fame rarely tells the whole story of who someone really was to the people who loved them.

✨ Sometimes the truest way to remember someone is through the small, quiet details only the people closest to them ever knew.

Support doesn’t end when the service is over.

Aftercare provides families with continued guidance, resources, and compassion as they navigate life after loss.

Aftercare support includes:

✓ Grief resources
✓ Educational materials
✓ Support group information
✓ Check-in calls
✓ Community referrals
✓ Guidance through next steps
✓ Anniversary and special dates acknowledgment/support

Healing doesn’t follow a timeline, and no one should have to walk through grief alone.

Because caring for families is a commitment that continues long after the service.

A keepsake memorial is more than an item. It's a tangible connection to a life, a story, and the memories that continue long after a service has ended.

Today's memorial keepsakes come in many forms, including jewelry, keepsake urns, fingerprint impressions, memorial glass, custom artwork, and personalized mementos that can be shared among family members. These meaningful pieces allow loved ones to keep a cherished memory close, whether at home, at work, or wherever life takes them.

For many families, keepsakes provide comfort, spark conversations, and help preserve a legacy for future generations. Because every life is unique, memorial keepsakes can be personalized to reflect hobbies, passions, military service, faith, or the special moments that made someone unforgettable.

There is no right or wrong way to remember someone you love. What matters most is finding meaningful ways to honor their story and keep their memory alive.

Many people ask about the difference between a funeral and a celebration of life.

A traditional funeral often follows a more structured format and may include religious or cultural traditions. A celebration of life is typically more personalized and focuses on sharing memories, stories, music, and experiences that reflect a loved one's unique personality.

Neither option is right or wrong. The most important thing is creating a meaningful experience that brings family and friends together while honoring a life well lived.
