Today, your dad planted your name in marigolds so that one day, if you ever searched your old address, you’d discover something beautiful waiting for you, a reminder that you have always been loved.
Long after the birthday balloons are gone and the candles have been blown out, these flowers will continue to bloom, just like the love they were planted with.
As a woman who grew up without a father in my life, I don’t take moments like this for granted. Gestures like this heal something deep in my heart. They remind me that love isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s found in the quiet things we choose to do for the people we love most.
