Ten years. Ten causes. One community that refuses to look away.
When we started the Jeff Monreal Funeral Home Charity Golf Outing a decade ago, it was never really about golf. It was about making our friends and family aware of the incredible organizations right here in our community that help children and adults who are less fortunate, facing a diagnosis, or simply going through one of life's hardest chapters.
Look at what this community has built together:
Year 1 — Camp Ho Mita Koda, a camp for children with type 1 diabetes — $7,500
Year 2 — In Motion, supporting those with neurological diseases — $8,500
Year 3 — breastcancer.org, because no one should fight breast cancer alone — $9,500
Year 4 — Footprints for Autism — $10,000
Year 5 — The Miracle League of Lake County, a ballpark built for children and adults with disabilities — $14,500
Year 6 — The Travis Mills Foundation, honoring a wounded warrior and 101st Airborne hero — $27,500
Year 7 — Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland — over $20,000
Year 8 — Alzheimer's Association — over $21,500
Year 9 — Camp Sue Osborn, a camp for individuals with special needs — over $22,600
Year 10 — Sub Zero Mission, providing lifesaving warmth to homeless veterans across Northeast Ohio — $27,250
This year's outing was especially close to our hearts as we honored our dear friend Rich Regovich, who was passionate about supporting this cause. Sub Zero Mission was founded by a U.S. Marine Corps veteran known to many as "Sarge," built on a simple idea — to give those who served warmth and a second chance.
We all fall on hard times — some harder than others. But this outing has shown us a kind of generosity we never knew was possible. To every friend, family member, sponsor, and volunteer who has shown up year after year: thank you. Every dollar raised helps remind someone that they are not forgotten.
