June. Wow. We made it.

If you spent this month doing all the right things: therapy, journaling, deep breaths, drinking water. That's great.

If you spent this month lying on the floor listening to a playlist called 'sad but make it cinematic, that's also valid. We've all been there.

Here's the thing: there's no gold star for performing wellness. There's just showing up, imperfectly, and trying again.

If something in our June content made you feel seen, or made you think 'maybe it's time to try therapy,' that's what we're here for.

We have openings. We'd love to talk. Solaceplacecounseling.com. No audition required.

You made it through another month.

Maybe June was good. Maybe it was hard. Maybe it was both in the same week, sometimes in the same day.

Either way, you're here.

If you've been thinking about starting therapy this summer, there's no perfect moment to start. There's just the moment you decide it's time.

We're here when you're ready, no pressure, no rush.

And if you're already doing the work: keep going. Even when it's slow. Even when it doesn't feel like progress. It is.

Personal growth is:

Recognizing the pattern
Understanding the pattern
Deciding not to repeat the pattern
Doing the pattern again anyway
At least this time noticing you did it
Therapy
Repeat

Insight is the first step, not the last. The fact that you can see the pattern is genuinely progress, even when it doesn't feel like it.

Change is slow and messy and sometimes you will absolutely do the thing you said you wouldn't. That's part of it.

What therapy does is help you shrink the gap between "recognizing" and "choosing differently." That gap doesn't disappear overnight, but it can narrow.

Hang in there. This is the work.

If you're a first responder or veteran, here's something we want you to hear:

The things you've seen, the decisions you've had to make, the way your body learned to stay sharp all the time. That doesn't just turn off when your shift ends. Or when you separate from service.

And the culture you came from? It often doesn't have language for what you're carrying.

We do.

The Solace Place works specifically with first responders, veterans, and military families. We understand the job. We understand the pressure not to need help.

And we believe that asking for it is one of the bravest things you can do.

You can reach us at solaceplacecounseling.com.

Grounding techniques they teach you in therapy:

Name 5 things you can see
Name 4 things you can touch
Name 3 things you can hear
Name 2 things you can smell
Name 1 thing you can taste

What I'm actually naming:

The ceiling
The ceiling again
Still the ceiling
That crack I've been meaning to fix
My phone, which I'm on right now

Here's the thing though: grounding actually works when you practice it. It just takes a minute to get out of your head and into your body first.

That's what therapy helps with: building the habit when it's calm, so it's there when you need it.

"Other people have it so much worse. I don't have a reason to feel this way."

If that thought has ever stopped you from seeking help, hear this.

There is no suffering minimum for therapy. No intake checklist where your experiences have to score high enough to qualify.

Therapy is for the low-level, persistent dread that shows up every Sunday night.
It's for the relationship patterns you keep repeating and can't explain.
It's for the feeling of being fine, but not really fine, and not knowing why.

Your experiences are real. Your discomfort is real. You don't need a dramatic origin story to deserve support.

If this resonates, you're allowed to reach out.

Healing era but make it chaotic.

Some days you journal, do breathwork, and drink your water.

Other days you cry in the car, eat cereal for dinner, and call your mom at 9 p.m.

Both count.

Progress isn't a straight line and it definitely doesn't look like a highlight reel. Most of the real work happens in the unglamorous, unremarkable, "well that was hard" moments.

If you're in a messy middle right now, that's not a sign you're doing it wrong. It might be a sign you're actually doing it.

And if you want some support getting through the chaos? We're here.
