A lot of people avoid mental health care because they are afraid of what people will think.
Once someone hears “mental health,” some immediately jump to, “Oh, so you’re crazy.”
That kind of stigma keeps a lot of people quiet, even when something is clearly not right.
And in some families or cultures, mental health symptoms may be explained away as stress, bad luck, something spiritual, or something to keep private.
But sometimes it maybe anxiety.
Sometimes it’s depression.
Sometimes it’s trauma.
Sometimes it’s postpartum depression.
Sometimes something really is going on, and it deserves to be taken seriously.
Getting help does not mean you’re crazy.
It can simply mean: something feels off, and you want to understand why.
