Black History Month ends on February 28, but the responsibility to support Black and Indigenous People of Color continues every day of the year.

Real allyship lives in consistent action like learning, listening, advocating, and examining the systems we participate in. As mental health professionals, this includes creating spaces where clients feel seen, safe, and respected beyond performative gestures.

Have you ever wondered why your body reacts so fast, even when you know you’re okay?

That’s because stress and trauma don’t just live in our thoughts. They also live in the body.

When something feels threatening (even emotionally), your nervous system jumps in to protect you; often before your brain has time to make sense of what’s happening. This can look like anxiety, shutdown, irritability, or feeling overwhelmed “out of nowhere.”

Trauma-informed therapy focuses on helping the body feel safe again, not just talking through experiences. When the body calms, the mind can finally do its job.

At Palm Beach Behavioral Health & Wellness (PBBHW), we offer trauma therapy that honors both your mind and your body and at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
