Late August is a good time to prepare for respiratory illness season—especially for older adults and people managing heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, or a weakened immune system.

Put these three questions on the calendar:

When should the annual flu vaccine be scheduled?
Is an RSV vaccine recommended based on age and health risks—and has it already been received?
What COVID-19 vaccine plan is appropriate based on age, medical history, and previous doses?

For most adults, the CDC recommends scheduling the flu vaccine during September or October. RSV and COVID-19 recommendations are more individualized, so review them with a physician or pharmacist.

The CDC estimates that 34% of U.S. adults age 65 and older have chronic kidney disease.

Even more surprising: 87% of adults with chronic kidney disease do not know they have it.
