A Brief Story About Who We Are
Allow me to share a little of our story.
For more than four decades, Awareness Technology, Inc. (ATI) has remained a trusted name in the clinical diagnostics industry. During this time, we have not only witnessed the evolution of the global IVD market, but we have also helped to shape it.
Forty years may sound like a simple number, but behind it lie countless hours of innovation, dedication, and hard work by people who believed that laboratory technology should be accessible, reliable, and affordable.
From our earliest days, our mission has been to help laboratories embrace new technology. One of our first milestones was the introduction of the Stat Fax® 1904, a semi-automatic compact analyzer that entered a market almost entirely dominated by the Spectronic 20 from Bausch & Lomb.
The Stat Fax® 1904 represented a significant advance for laboratories. For many users, it was the first time they could obtain accurate concentration results without performing manual mathematical calculations. Results were automatically calculated, printed, and graphed. Although, small in size, this innovative instrument transformed the daily workflow of thousands of small and medium-sized laboratories around the world.
After establishing ourselves as a leaders in the semi-automatic clinical chemistry and semi-automatic ELISA readers segments , we listened carefully to what laboratories were asking for : A fully automated analyzer.
As we had done before, we chose not to follow the market we chose to innovate.
The result was the ChemWell® 2910 Analyzer, our flagship analyzer, a unique open-system platform capable of performing both clinical chemistry and ELISA testing on the same instrument. At the time, this combination was revolutionary. The ChemWell® 2910 quickly earned the confidence of laboratories worldwide and successfully competed against well-established biochemistry analyzers such as the Ciba Corning 550 Express (and Express Plus) and the Technicon Clinicon 1000, as well as popular automated immunoassay analyzers as BioMerieux Vidas and mini Vidas, and Roche Elecsys 2010.
Throughout the first decade of the 2000s, ATI became one of the most recognized manufacturers in the IVD industry. Each new instrument we introduced quickly became stablished in clinical laboratories seeking reliable performance, whether for clinical diagnostics, life science research, food safety, veterinary medicine, or environmental testing.
Much of that success was made possible by the strong relationships we built with our worldwide distribution partners and by collaborations with leading reagent manufacturers who relied on ATI analyzers for their robustness, reliability, and open-system flexibility.
Then came one of the most challenging periods in modern healthcare.
The COVID-19 pandemic changed the world forever. It exposed weaknesses in healthcare systems, highlighted the importance of rapid diagnostics, and accelerated the need for laboratory automation.
Once again, ATI responded with innovation. ChemWell® RPR 5801System
Syphilis experienced an alarming increase worldwide since the beginning of the decade, driven by the COVID-19 pandemic and the decline in condom use. With the introduction of our ChemWell® RPR 5801 System, laboratory staff can dedicate more time to other tests, knowing they can rely on fully automated, accurate, and dependable reporting.
Built on the proven ChemWell® platform, the ChemWell® RPR 5801 System, the world's first fully automated analyzer designed specifically for non-treponemal RPR (Rapid Plasma Reagin) syphilis testing is FDA-cleared for diagnostic testing, blood donor screening, and cadaveric tissue screening, processing up to 190 tests per hour. By combining our proven automation platform with advanced imaging technology, the analyzer uses an internal CCD camera and sophisticated image-processing algorithms to interpret agglutination reactions automatically, eliminating the subjectivity associated with manual visual interpretation and providing greater consistency and confidence in every result.
The healthcare sector continues evolving rapidly. Thanks to social media, information is now available almost instantly, technology advances faster than ever, and the expectations in the field of in vitro diagnostics (IVD) continue to grow.
While these changes bring new challenges, they also create tremendous opportunities. Global uncertainty has encouraged caution throughout many industries, slowing investment and making innovation more thoughtful. In today's environment, success is no longer measured by moving the fastest, it is measured by moving wisely.
ATI has never been a passive observer of change.
Today, we are once again preparing the next generation of innovative diagnostic solutions. We continue to invest in research, engineering, and manufacturing, carefully adapting to the realities of today's market while remaining true to the principles that have guided us for more than 46 years.
Above all, we remain committed to the people who have made our journey possible, our distributors, our partners, and the laboratories that place their trust in our products every day. We are here because of you.
Many years ago, after returning from an international business trip, one of our colleagues smiled and said something that has stayed with us ever since:
"Awareness Technology instruments are like Coca-Cola, you find them everywhere."
For us, that statement was never simply about market presence. It reflected the Trust that laboratories around the world have placed in our products for decades.
That Trust continues to inspire us every day as we write the next chapter of our story.
