May 6, 2026 marks 20 years since I opened my private practice. Over the years, I have had the honor and privilege of people trusting me with their most precious family members' care, referring their friends, and sharing their deepest hurts, concerns, and fears. I sincerely want to thank every one of you for all that I have learned about life, love, relationships, and human nature through your stories. We have laughed, cried, and shared many hours together over the years...some of us for 1 session while others of us for dozens of sessions. Some of us have grown older together and we now share the aches and pains of aging and some of you, I have watched grow up to become parents to your own beautiful children. Some have been lost along the way to death from cancer, accidents, moving, drug overdose, other health problems, or need to refer out for other forms of care. One client's death due to an accident that I heard about in the news on TV a few years after I treated him, broke my heart. Some of you (or your children) I have helped to name or rename...what an honor! Some previous clients still check in from time to time and let me know how they are doing and how I helped them to get where they are now. Some I never hear from again and I sometimes wonder how they are doing. One child I never met, drew me a picture thanking me for saving their parents' marriage. That picture hangs on the wall in my office to this day because that is the reason I became a marriage and family therapist...to help minimize the number of divorces so that more children could grow up without the pain of a broken family, but I have also witnessed the joy of how therapy can help blended familes to heal and grow. No matter why you came, stayed, or left, you helped make me the therapist and person I have become. I look forward to continuing this journey for as long as I am able and continuing my practice of delivering therapy in the most authentic way I can...which is to be me, the therapist, and the person.
