"You have a bulging disc." ๐ฉ
Hearing those words can be intimidatingโbut let's break it down.
Think of the discs in your spine like jelly donuts. ๐ฉ
The outside of the disc is tough and strong, while the inside is soft and gel-likeโkind of like the jelly inside a donut.
Sometimes, because of injury or wear and tear, that "jelly" pushes outward. That's what's called a bulging or herniated disc.
The important thing to know?
๐ A bulging or herniated disc doesn't automatically mean surgery.
๐ In fact, many people improve with conservative treatment.
At New Spring Chiropractic, we don't just focus on what the MRI saysโwe look at how your spine is functioning. When joints aren't moving properly, they can place extra stress on surrounding tissues. Our goal is to restore healthy movement, reduce irritation, and support your body's natural ability to heal.
Here's something else that surprises many people: Some people have bulging discs and no pain at all, while others have significant pain with only a small disc injury. That's why it's so important to treat the personโnot just the image.
If you've been told you have a bulging or herniated disc, don't panic. The diagnosis is just one piece of the puzzle, and there are often effective, non-surgical treatment options worth exploring.
