Practicing gratitude is a powerful way to improve mental, emotional and physical well-being. Taking time each day to recognize the positive things in our lives can help reduce stress, increase resilience and shift our focus from what we lack to what we have. In recovery and everyday life, gratitude can strengthen hope, foster connection and remind us of the progress we've made. Comment below with three things you are grateful for.

Men’s health is an important focus at Michael’s House because many men face unique barriers to seeking help for substance use and mental health concerns, including stigma, societal expectations around masculinity and reluctance to discuss emotional struggles. Michael’s House recognizes that lasting recovery requires treating the whole person - not just the addiction - through integrated care that addresses substance use, mental health, trauma, physical wellness and overall quality of life.

At Michael’s House, we proudly celebrate Pride Month as a reminder that recovery thrives in environments where every individual feels seen, valued and supported. As we launch our new LGBTQIA+ Pride Program, we reaffirm our commitment to providing affirming, inclusive care that honors each person’s unique identity and lived experience. In a community like Palm Springs—long recognized for its strong LGBTQIA+ presence and spirit of acceptance—Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, foster connection and remind those seeking recovery that they never have to walk their journey alone.

During Men’s Mental Health Month, Michael's House recognizes the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment where men can openly discuss their mental health challenges. Many men struggle in silence due to stigma, making it harder to seek help for anxiety, depression, trauma and substance use disorders. By encouraging honest conversations, emotional wellness and connection, Michael's House helps men build the tools needed for lasting recovery, improved mental health and a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Recovery isn’t always a straight line—and that’s okay. 💙

At Michael’s House, we believe healing happens through compassion, understanding and personalized support. Our trauma-informed approach helps individuals address not only substance use, but also the underlying trauma, mental health challenges and emotional pain that can contribute to addiction.

Through trust, empathy and meaningful connection, clients are empowered to build a strong foundation for lasting recovery. And most importantly, no one has to face addiction alone. Michael’s House provides a supportive community where individuals are welcomed, encouraged and given the tools to rediscover hope and create positive change.

Recovery is possible. Healing is possible. And support is here every step of the way.

At Michael’s House, our Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups play an important role in supporting clients on their recovery journey. DBT helps individuals develop healthy coping skills, improve emotional regulation, manage stress and navigate difficult emotions without turning to substances.

We proudly offer two DBT groups each week in both our inpatient and outpatient programs, providing clients with consistent support, structure, and practical tools for long-term recovery. Through mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness skills, clients gain strategies that help strengthen recovery and improve overall mental wellness.

Recovery is about more than abstinence — it’s about learning new ways to cope, grow and thrive.
