Here’s my pet peeve about airline travel nowadays. I headed to Chicago today for a conference and when the pilot or copilot came on to announce that we were going to be delayed for weather I could not hear hardly anything of what he was saying. I heard delay, weather, and sit tight.
When the flight attendant came through, I stopped one and I said that I couldn’t hear anything the copilot was saying and that it was frustrating. Her response was frankly insulting. She said she could hear him just fine and I said well I know I have normal hearing because I work with people with hearing loss and there’s no way that anybody with even a mild hearing loss would’ve been able to understand a word he was saying. I stated that it seems like their intercom systems are still back in the 1950s. Then she proceeded to trash the airplane saying it was one of the worst planes out there. Not a great statement to somebody who doesn’t like flying for one thing.
Even the guy next to me made a face at her saying that she could hear everything because he took his headphones off and just shook his head when the copilot was making his announcement.
In today’s day and age why on earth can we not hear what the pilot and copilot are saying?
