I’m really angry right now! I’m tired of nurses and doctors fear mongering women into hospital births, with no real data to back up their opinions! I like to tell people that ask me about the safety of out-of-hospital birth, “if this was as dangerous as they say it is, I would not be doing this for a living!”. I started out a labor and delivery nurse and worked in a high volume, high risk obstetrical unit for four years. I’ve seen it all! Now, I have been a Midwife for 25 years. For low risk women, out-of-hospital birth, with an experienced midwife, is, hands-down, safer than a hospital, birth!
